  1. Graham We certainly will. Be good to meet you. See you tomorrow. Robert
  2. If you call Esprit Cars, speak to Kevin the owner. Fell free to mention my name. Their number is 01614560800. Robert
  3. I wonder whether Christopher Neil will now have the Esprit expertise, particularly of the older cars, to do what you need. I guess for the last 20 years they have got used to plugging into and ECU! I agree, it is an art if its is carb tuning that's required rather than a faulty part. You have a couple of genuine independent Esprit specialists not too far away. PNM on Merseyside, who I have no experience of, but I hear good things about, and have been used by many on here, and Esprit Cars at Hazel Grove, who I use all the time and who have provided excellent service to me and some others on here. Esprit tuned the carbs on my S2 recently and transformed it.
  4. Guys This is the proposed date for the next run and meet. Destination yet to be determined, but I am keen to get this in the diary as I would like to use this meet to have a discussion about what we all want to get from our Group going forwards, future events, expanding membership etc. I hope that most of you can make this. Please list below to confirm. 1 RobertC
  5. Tony It's one of those that covers both. It's on the soutbound side just before the M56 junction. For us, we will exit the M56 onto the northbound M6 and bear left to leave the motorway before we join the M6. Yes makes sense for you to come to me. Were No94, the drive immediately after the nursing home on the left, just over the canal. Suggest you get to me about 7.45? Robert
  6. Recognising where we are al starting from and the destination, I suggest we meet at the services at the junction of the M6/M56. It has a reasonable sized car park, but suggest we park in the section furthest from the McDonalds. Assuming we would like to have about 3 hours at the show, I suggest we meet from 08.00 onwards with a view to leaving by 08.45 for the short drive to Tatton - show opens at 09.00. We will then aim to leave the show at 12.00 to meet the NMEG guys at the Rudyard Hotel before 13.00. Is that OK with everybody? Alternative proposals welcome. 1 Robert Crooks 2 CarlC 3 Tony Chapman 4 CobraEsprit
  7. First full NWEG meet. Venue and hoon details to be confirmed

  10. We have a number of NWEG members who have expressed interest in visiting the Tatton Show on 23/08. Assuming we do this in the morning, we could also make the trip to the Rudyard Hotel near Leek to have lunch with NMEG and EMEG. It should take 45 mins to get from Tatton to Rudyard, but we would need to be at the show early to make the most of the Show. This also assumes that NMEG won't be lunching to early (which I am checking). We will find a convenient location where we can meet before proceeding to the Show in convoy. Will confirm this once we have a clear view of where all members will be travelling from. Definite attendees are as follows. Please add to this list if you will be joining us: 1 Robert Crooks 2 CarlC 3 Tony Chapman
  11. David It would be great if you could provideto some more owners names to follow up with. Also, please let me have Peter's details and I will follow up to see if we can help out with cars. It looks like CarlC and I might go to Tatton on 23/08. Any other takers for Tatton on the Sunday?
  12. James Do you get one of those with every JPS - because mine seems to be missing! Robert
  13. I was wondering if any NWEG members or other North West Esprit owners are planning to attend the Tatton show on 23/08? Alternatively, NMEG are also doing their Cat & Fiddle run on the same day and have extended the invitation to NWEG members. As a NW based Esprit owner, I would really like to get some NW events going. I am hoping that there are some similar minded NW Esprit owners out there. If you are interested in joining NWEG, or are an existing member, perhaps you could reply to this post indicating whether you would like to attend either of these events. It would also be helpful if new or existing NWEG members could formally join NWEG by applying through the Regional Groups facility at the top of this page. This will help future communication across the Group. Robert
  14. Tony Yes, we paid a few Euros in tolls, but it was worth it to travel at 130+kph. Its a system that seems to work really well in France. You pay, but its not very expensive considering the distance travelled, particularly compared to what we have to pay for the M6 Toll road. However, my comments about quality, smoothness, quiteness and absence of roadworks (at least a this time of year) equally apply to their non-motorway road network. I was driving one of PaulC's favoured BMWs, but would love to have been in the Esprit! Robert
  15. We've been on holiday in France for a fortnight. Drove down from Manchester to a house near Toulouse. I've driven down to the south of France a few times over the years, and have always enjoyed the experience. Their roads possibly take less traffic, but I can't believe that this justifies the massive difference in the way they care for their road network. The road surfaces are better, quieter, and smoother and any incidents always seem to be well controlled without any over-reaction. Nothing brought this into more stark contrast than our journey home last night. We left Toulouse at 15.00, intending to do about half the journey to Calais and then stop overnight. However, we covered the first half of the journey so quickly that we decided to continue on to Calais with a view to catching a midnightish Eurotunnel and be home in Manchester about 03.30. The French part of the journey was perfect 900+kms in 8.5 hours with 2 good breaks. Not a single hold up, no road works, no accidents - only spotted one motorway police patrol car the whole time we were away. Arrived in the UK 00.30. Got home at 05.45. 5.25 hours to do 240 miles! That included miles and miles of 50mph roadworks with nobody working, and a closure of both the M1 and M6. The weather was dry and clear and there was next to nothing on the road, so no excuses there. How do we get it so wrong?
  16. Hi Steve I don't think there are any NWEG organised events in this period, but there is the Lotus Factory Frolic at Hethel on the weekend of 17/18 October (see post on main Forum). I will be going down from Manchester for this and I am sure some other NWEG members will be as well. It promises to be the best Forum event of the year so your timing is perfect if you can fit it in. Otherwise, I am sure we can organise an impromptu gathering of some kind. Let us know what works for you. Robert
  17. In the absence of a better offer, they would be welcome to use my non-turbo JPS, but it won't be back from the paint shop until beginning of September.
  18. I am definitely in. Bibs and Laura, thanks for organising what I am sure will be a fantastic weekend
  19. Jon I think they are the best I've seen in metal finish, and would take a set in brushed for my JPS. I would also be interested in a CF set for a V8. Robert
  20. Sue I had a go at refurbishing the leather on my TE with various products, Woolies, Gliptone. They certainly were an improvement, but none of them gave me the quality of finish I was looking for. When I wanted to redo the leather on "my SE", I explored a number of alternatives, including releathering. However , I was encouraged to talk to a couple of ex-Connolly guys at Warrington who trade as Leathercare Direct who specialise in re-connolising leather. They do cars, furniture, aircraft etc. The process involves stripping the leather back and re-colouring and treating it using original Connolly products. The results of other work they showed me looked very good so I gave them a go. I have to say the results are truly amazing. The colour is now stunning. But it's also about the texture. The leather is now soft again like new, and it has the lovely matt finish. This all sounds hugely expensive. But I would regard
  21. Alex, I hope you feel a lot better soon.
  22. My S2 Commemorative is available for those dates if you want it. Robert
  23. Megan and Dave, my sincere condolences.
