  1. I'm about 50 miles or so from GST, so my 50 mile circuit goes towards Newmarket and then back home, so in a way I'm keeping not too far away from the workshop as well. How do you set the rev limiter, as that's a great idea. Funnily enough the only issue I've ever had was when the large hose to the big alloy pipe split on me, Was on the motorway, huge cloud of steam, just before a junction, came off there, coasted into a garage that was there, and luckily enough there was an RAC recovery truck sitting there - waiting for me . I think it took about 1/2 hour to organise getting them to recover me, and got it sorted the next day.
  2. Thanks Buddsy, yes great news indeed. Yes it is running in oil, but in the excitement of picking it up yesterday, I forgot to note down what it is . Have sent an e-mail asking this. Chris
  3. Hi Roz Pistons & liners replaced as the rings had shattered on two of the pistons. The Esprit has been off the road since 2002, and not really used before that since 1994 when I moved overseas. Feels like having is as a new car all over again. Chris
  4. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I've just been for a couple of 50 mile circuits of Hertfordshire in my rejuvenated Esprit. What a wonderful day it is! One circuit with each of my children - they are not built for child seats are they? Had to remove it for the oldest (8) as it kept slipping forward. My youngest (5) woke me up this morning insisting that we go out in it, and he smiled the whole way around – as did I. As I’ve got to put ~1500 miles on the clock whilst running in, I’ll be doing this route fairly often, and I’m up to 220 so far, so hopefully, this shouldn’t take too long. Well, it’s just started tipping it down, but hey, it’s still a wonderful day.
  5. There are thousands of WWII US Air Force photos here http://www.fold3.com/title_495/wwii_us_air_force_photos/ Choose the Browse option. To download the images, you have to register - which is free
  6. bloody weather! Forgotten quite how close together the pedals are, and that there's no real arm rest for the right arm. The fuel gauge not registering - must get a notebook & pencil to work out when I should be filling up. The gauge flickers and moves from off, but never gets above E. Put 30 litres in one side drove a bit, then decided I best put some in the other side just in case the connecting pipe was blocked - made no difference. The radio/cassette player seems to have stopped working - didn't fancy driving along with the window down in the pouring rain to hear the engine music. Bit of wind noice from the drivers door seal, but I think that's always been there, not annoying. Got distracted this morning by my other car deciding to display the service light & "Toxic fume filter system warning light", so had ot phone the dealers to book in for s service, and was in a bit of a rush to get to the station (missed the bus, had to cycle). Arrived at GST and found I'd left my bank card at home - wot a tit! Now got to to 1500 miles running in, must find a 100 mile circuit to do. Chris
  7. Tax disc arrived yesterday, tyres arrived this afternoon. All ready to go for tomorrow Can't wait.
  8. Next month I'll be up for it as I'll have my Esprit on the road.
  9. OK, askMID has just been updated, and I'm on it Car Tax has been bought and we are now all legal. I'm assuming that if the disc hasn't arrived by Friday, so long as I print out the e-mail/screen confirmation from the DVLA I should be OK to drive without the disc being displayed? Afterall, the tax is valid from 1st December, not from when the disc arrives. Chris
  10. I'm going to replace the NCTs on my 82 Esprit Turbo, and am looking for recommendations of makes and suppliers. I'm thinking of Vredestein Sportrac 3 225/60s & 195/60s, but have no experience of them, or any other possibilities. Any thoughts or suggestions welcome Chris
  11. Not yet, it hasn't been taxed or insured for the road for 10 years Got the Insurance today. Waiting for it to appear in askMID, then the tax Picking up probably next Friday
  12. S3 is the only non-Synology option - one of the reasons I bought it, plus it had very good reviews. Just read about Glacier, and sounds interesting, especially the price - 90% of my data is fixed - photos, video etc, so I'll look into this.
  13. It now has an MOT for the first time since 2002. Insurance tomorrow.
  14. Bibs, not sure whether you mean which Amazon Service or Synology Service Its the Amazon Web Service, Simple Storage Service (S3), and on the Disk Station it's one of the target locations under Backup & Restore, so comes built in. I was using LiveDrive, which was OK, but occasionally flakey, and it relied on my PC being on when it did it's backup. It also cost upwards of £90 a year. Switched to using the Synology, and the cost is around $5 a month - although this is slowly increasing as I backup more data. Hope this helps Chris .
  15. I thought it was still waiting for parts when I rang up yesterday, so was suprised as well to hear that the engine was back in. Got to sort Insurance & then take it off SORN for the road tax once the MOT is done
  16. Gerald told me mine was being MOT's today as well.
  17. I have a dual drive RAID Synology Disk Station DS211j which GoodSync backs up onto every day from 3 PCs. The disk station automatically backs up on a weekly schedule all the changes to the data off-site on Amazon S3 storage. I also mirror the disk station disks onto a spare disk on my PC for speed of access as I have extra capacity on my PC. I recommend the Synology setup if you are looking for a replacement backup solution. Chris
  18. Nice looking car - I like the colour. More photos please.
