  1. The parts manual mentions a foam seal being used on the RH side wall, but no reference to its size etc. (Only made from A036xxxxx which I can't find). The old one is desintegrated so no clue. Maybe someone can tell me if they used a new seal (dimensions?) or something else and why the LHS uses no seal? (Heat I presume). If the LHS doesn't have a seal then the RHS can surely be mounted without a foam seal, the seam on both sides are sealed with sealant. So I'm a little bit at a loss, if somebody can tell me there experiences / ideas I will be happy to hear / read them.
  2. Attached a pdf for printing a Turbo Esprit Heater panel. I found this years ago on LEF. (I did not make it and forgot who did) Turbo Esprit Heater Panel.pdf
  3. The function of the AC request relay is to signal the ECU that the AC needs to be switched on. Three items control the relay in conjunction namely the on / off switch on the dash, the temperature controller and a pressure switch. They all have to give a "green light" before the relay gets energized. From there on the ECU gets in charge, once the the ECU gets the signal for the AC request it doesn't switch on the AC control relay blindly. Depending on the ECT and the engine load (IIRC fanfailure is also taken into acount) it swiches the control relay, furthermore the ECU has debounce function for the control. ie to stop the control relay from hunting. The patch wire doesn't make sense, the way the ECU energize controlling relays is by means of completing the circuit to ground (going low on the output) Freek
  4. did you check the pressure switch, which is mounted on the drier.
  5. After looking a couple of times at the pictures i must say that i like it. Can we have a picture which shows the roof?
  6. Allright I will bite the bullit, Where is the wing?
  7. Hi Owen, maybe it's an idea to hook up a pressure gauge?
  8. Something to read, (pictures are missing) http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/21888-ac-renewal/ quite a big job renewing the AC.
  9. In order to remove the CamCarrier housing you need to remove the brass plugs and the cam cover so you can have access to the torx bolts (spanner size E10) and a couple of nuts (IIRC spanner size 13). Don't forget to use bar type magnets in order to retain the camfollowers in the camhousing when you remove the camhousing. Each Camhousing is secured by 8 Torx bolts and 2 pcs. of M8 nuts. BTW if you become a full forum member you can download the parts manual which has excellent exploded views
  10. Home made Liner Nip Tool, flat aluminium bar (with a slot) and a home made (lathe) brass "sliding" bush which clamps / holds the micrometer perpendicular to the flat aluminium bar. I checked the tool first on a flat piece of glass to make sure everything was straight and flat. Take a measurement on the liner and another one on the engineblock and the difference between them is the nip. Repeat this 7 more times (4 liners / left- & rightside).
  11. In my previous post the clearances for the inlet / exhaust valves were reversed. The attached calculation sheet is correct. So below are the correct numbers: Inlet valves: 0.005" - 0.007" Exhaust valves: 0.010" - 0.012" Just fill in the yellow fields after unzipping. Valve Clearance.zip (maybe a moderator can remove the wrong post in order to avoid confusion)
  12. Inlet valves: 0.010" - 0.012" Outlet valves: 0.005" - 0.007" Just fill in the yellow fields after unzipping. Valve Clearance.zip
  13. Original reinforcement plate (one on each corner) which was fiberglassed in the undertray. newly made (Stainless Steel) just before fiberglassing it into place. Original stays (without the welded on nuts) after powder coating.

  15. Simple things first, it looks like there is a short circuit which activates the AC Control (Clutch) relay causing also a code 26 error. I would start looking at the wiring from to the relays towards the ECU.
  16. No wing on the 3rd car

  18. I know about the missing pictures, don't know how to rectify the problem (maybe someone can point me in the right direction). If you want i can email you the pictures, just let me know. Routing the new hose inside the fueltank compartment is very time consuming unless you remove the fueltank.
  19. I renewed my AC system a couple of years ago, http://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/topic/21888-ac-renewal/ It's a big job.
  20. I reckon your ballast resistor is located on the rear fuse / relay box, I couldn't find it in the GT3 parts manual. If you can't find it will be a follow the wires game starting from the injectors. Tracing the wires is also a great oppertunity to check them visually to see if there are no bad / loose contacts, chaffing damage etc. (I know it is a lousy tedious job). Bad wiring (shorts / cuts etc.) can be a cause for the code 26. The injector circuit is complety solid state electronics (only one exemption: the fuel pump relay which switches the +12V to the injectors) so no 2nd Inj. solenoid. Just a couple suggestions: Are your relays from Lucas (not so good ones) or Bosch / Hella ones?? Have you tried swapping multiple ones ?? Did you check if the spade teminals in the relay sockets are clean / not corroded etc and if they still have a tight fit on the relay pins ??
  21. The testlight should light when you activate the 2nd Injectors in espritmon. The Fuel pump relay controls the power (+12V) to the fuel pump, primary and secondary Injectors. The relay is controlled by the ECU. (EMH.4 page 4) When the ECU commands the injectors to open the ECU completes the electrical circuit to ground. Did you check the ballast resistor which is connected in series with the 2nd Injectors, as far as I know the resistance should be around 3.3 Ohm There is no injector solenoid/relay, the injectors are being driven by a MOSFET transistor. Field Service Mode is a special mode where the CEL light indicates if the engine is running in Open loop or Closed loop and when in Closed loop the CEL indicates if the engine running rich or lean. Furthermore no new error codes are stored. (EMH.1 page 10) The way i read the code 26 diagnostics in the EMH manual is that the field service mode is only used to check if the CEL(s) is/are operating correctly. So the Tech 1 Field is not the same as the E function (ECU mode 4) in Espritmon, however you can use the e function to test the CEL light. (yours is working) Maybe a long shot but did you ever replace the CEL bulb? (and used a correct one ??) (my SE has 2 CEL's) Freek CEL = Check Engine Light
  22. Hi Adrian, when testing the 2nd injectors with the testlight bridge the contacts of the connector with the testlight. (disconnect the connectors from the 2nd Injectors). Leave the various relays in place, otherwise the ECU thinks something is wrong and triggers a fault code (Error 26). The 2 Injectors (as well as the primaty injectors) are being driven directly by the ECU without the use of a relay or solenoid, so no clicking. Maybe the "clicking" of the injectors can be heard with a engine stethoscoop. Does your code 26B show up when driving or only when the ignition key is on and the engine is not running?? Freek
  23. If the car has no AC from factory then it is properly disabled ie not causing a 26B Error. The relays drive the solenoids, so if the solenoids are bad they can not cause an error 26, the relays do however. The secondary injectors are being driven directly (without a relay) by the ECU). I noticed a remark in the EMH manual that a code 26B is always displayed on the TECH 1 with the engine not running, so most likely it will also show up on Espritmon. Just to summarize your Error 26B: RPM relay- Already tested and working AC control relay - AC not installed from factory Engine overheat relay - tested??? TJ relay - tested??? 2nd Injectors - tested?? (should be tested / checked with an test light) did you check the Engine over heat relay and the TJ relay and the 2nd Injectors with Espritmon? Freek
  24. Hi Adrian, A couple of questions, was the AC removed from the car or did it come from the factory without an AC. Furthermore is the relay which controls the the TJ / EBV solenoid still in place and working ?? Freek
  25. Hi Dave, do you have a picture of the minor modification, as I have the engine out so I can do it before I put everything back in which I think will make things more easy.
