Nice, but I wish they had stuck more to the original styling for a bit of visual pizazz, it had some sweet detailing.

Bear in mind that the 340R was a 35k car seven years ago, the 40 grand price tag isn't too bad. They're not expecting to sell boat loads of them, but it keeps the factory in the press for all the right reasons.

At production of 100 per annum and most of the years production already sold I don't think the "it's too expensive" comment holds any water.

Price V Demand. Lotus need to recover the production cost and the car is made (I believe) on a limited production line away from the Elise, so it's costs are much higher.

IMHO they could charge another

OK Kimbers - I'll qualify my comment. Should have said 'but too expensive for a working hack like me to have as a weekend car".

Problem I see is that on here we're all Lotus fans and really DO want the company to do well financially, but in acceptiong that, we find ourselves priced out of the market. The argument to price things as high as the market will take is fiscally astute, but means lots of these cars will probably end up as trophies in private collections, or as toys for rich boys who know and care nothing of the brand.

I'd have to concede though that compared to the Superlight Caterhams it's good value, and that probably 99% of the Tifosi will never even get to SIT in a Fezza.
