You can put a deposit down now and when they ask you about model then saying Base Edition will mean they allocate you to that sub-queue.  They're tackling V6 First Editions at the moment, will kick off the process for i4 First Editions early next year and then at some point will pick up with the Base Edition folks.

If you can afford to loan the initial deposit to Lotus for a couple of years then it'll hold you a place in the relevant model queue.  Once press reviews and dealer demo cars are available in Q1 2022 I expect there will be another round of deposits and hence lengthening queues.

I guess the wait could come down a lot if Lotus decide to do a second shift in the factory, but if it stays a two years there is going to be quite a premium for the few FE cars which will inevitably come up on the used market. Hopefully it doesn't become a silly casino for flippers and speculators as with Porsche GT cars.

Thank you. Really should have thought this through before cancelling. Oh well, done now. Sounds like I should get a deposit in ASAP then before the new deposits from the test drive -> order folks in Q1 2022.

They won't introduce a 2nd shift but have made changes to the production which means a single shift can produce many more cars than initially quoted.

Interesting. They were talking about 5000 cars a year on a single shift. Do you know what they are aiming at now?

May be the 1 shift have to work longer and weekends. Unless they have found a way to make them quicker.
