Ok so im fitting new suspension to my elise.  But hit a problem right away as the rear wheel will not come off.  Any idea how I get it off?

 

all four bolts removed obviously.  Pulled very hard and it wont budge.  Ive just sprayed wd40 in the hope that will help.

 

any tips?

Ok the front wheel is the same. So it must be something simple to get them off.

Sure there isn’t another bolt behind the centre logo? If not they’ll just need a hefty smack on the tyre which should free it off

Put the bolts back in but not tight (no more than two turns out) Roll car backwards and forwards to break the corrosion

no bolt behind the logo.

 

got one of the front off now and fitted the first coil over. 3 more to go.

 

will try the rear wheel as suggested.

And when you replace it apply a very thin smear of ceramic grease to the mating surfaces once cleaned of course then it won't stick again https://www.putoline.com/en/catalogue/product/588/ceramic-grease/2064/

I will buy that in and then refit the wheels.  Still having an issue with tye rear.

 

is there a clever way of levering a wheel to break the corrosion?

ceramic grease - it think im going to test our ceramic coating on the wheel hubs to see if that solves the problem.  As i suspect the ceramic element to the grease is similar.

Have you needed to muck about with spring compressors to get those coil overs in there?

No.

 

the springs are  adjustable.  But im just got them set as they came.  Ive only checked the settings are the same for front and back.

 

its something i would like to know more about to make sure the springs are adjusted  to give best handling for the road.

 

the only thing on this i have seen is that each corner should weigh the same.  Just not worked out how best to weigh each corner.

 

are there better ways to make good adjustments or should i take it to a lotus specailist?

I use Coppaslip when I do mine. And a thin smear on the wheel bots too. never had any problems
