Alpine INE - W710D Head Unit DAB

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Does the Alpine INE - W710D head unit have DAB out of the box or do you need a cable to split the signal with FM for DAB to work? IE -  https://www.amazon.co.uk/Eightwood-Splitter-Antenna-Compatible-Blaupunkt-Aerial-01/dp/B01MRIFCDD

Just purchased a GT410 Sport with the Alpine INE - W710D head unit but for some reason can't seem to get the DAB working.

Thank you,

Phil

It depends if a DAB aerial was connected when the unit was installed....

It needs a DAB aerial of some sort but, as the Evora FM aerial isn't powered, a powered splitter or separate DAB aerial will be needed to get any sort of DAB signal.

Whilst the splitters work in strong DAB signal areas I get a lot of drop-outs in weaker areas, but the again my factory-fit Range Rover DAB does that too....

I used a splitter like this (can't remember the exact one) as I didn't want a separate DAB windscreen aerial or anything like that:

I had a metal-cased one first that didn't work at all so that went back - I'd avoid that type.....

Thank you for the reply.

I believe the head unit was a standard fit from the factory so just trying to see if DAB should be working or I may need extra cabling etc.

Ah - mine was afterfit - sorry for the assumption!
