PNM aluminum HVAC controls

Anyone fitted PNMs HVAC knobs? I'm having difficulty with the two larger ones. There is a compressible locator on the shaft and I can't see how you get the new knob over it as it has no suitable cut out and you can't get behind the locator to compress it and slide the knob on at the same time. 🤔 ( yeah, I know, my post reads like a exerpt from a Carry On film 😆)

They're in! What a faff. I ended up improvising a tool by bending some metal plate into a u shape so that I could keep the sprung locator down then carefully filed the rear of the new knob so that it went on the shaft partially over the sprung locator before I removed the tool. Have to say, now they are in they look very nice indeed😎.

Those new PNM little knobs suit your larger knob rather well!

Those nice shiny new knobs should have a little "ramp" cut into them so the blob gets compressed as you fit them.

Maybe wind some dental floss around the blob to hold it down until it starts entering the knob, then unwind it
