The Hastings wording pasted previously says "How will THE CAR be used" so even if Husband was driving to the station with Wife in Wife's car, the car was being used for commuting, although not all the way to a permanent place of work. Definitions, small print, contracts. Its all in the wording and as noted, the standard and commonly accepted meanings of words. Does "driving to work" include driving to the station? Does driving to work include driving to a car park 400 yards outside the ULEZ zone, then walking in to the Office across the boundary? Does driving to work include driving child to school, leaving car in school car park and using bus for 2 mile trip to the office? If the wording was clear originally, Hastings would not change it, would they.

is that what it looked like when you bought it? Nice. -

This is my area, being a trade mark attorney working with patents and copyrights too. As Bibs says, capitalisation makes no difference. Trim level is still use on vehicles, so might be naughty. However, there are often agreements in place covering this kind of thing, and various factors come into play including the cost of the item and how much attention you pay when buying the item. The argument would be that you are unlikely to accidentally buy a caravan thinking it was made by Lotus because it has the ESPRIT mark, etc etc

Where is the thermistor on my 83 USA Turbo?
LotuStuart replied to SilverEsprit's topic in Engine/Ancilliaries
Please clarify-do you mean 8.27v? or 82.7 Ohms resistance? Or...? Just to confirm-this supplies 12v to the circuit? -

This. Don't do it if it is irreversible. -
Fuel gauge needle below zero
LotuStuart replied to Mathias97's topic in Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC
OK, i just wondered if it was an MOT requirement or similar. Monitoring the trip is the same as monitoring the fuel gauge. So its a "want" really. Yes, I'd get it fixed/replaced, but on a sunny day I'd be driving it rather than taking the dash apart-sounds much more like a winter job. Temperature gauge-yes, now THAT'S a need! -
Fuel gauge needle below zero
LotuStuart replied to Mathias97's topic in Interior/Exterior/Lights/Glass/Alarms/ICE/HVAC
Why "needs"? I appreciate we all want everything to work fine, but given that I don't rely on the fuel gauge anyway, why does it matter if it works or not? You can use the trip meter-fill the car, refill when you've done 200 miles. MIght the top of the needle/the big centre part of it/ be catching on the glass, preventing movement? The gauges are pretty straightforward-as long as the thing hasn't been mangled it shouldn't be totally damaged beyond simple repair. -
Crank, no start - ECU not 'seeing' Crank Sensor
LotuStuart replied to steamdriven's topic in ECU/Freescan/Espritmon
Can you jump the fuel pump relay for a few seconds and see if that gets it running? At your own risk of course-there may be a good reason why the car has shut the fuel off! -
Fuel gauge needle below zero

I've always found the gauge to be a suggestive of the level rather than accurate. If your reserve light works, I'd go with that-obviously if you are about to drive 200 miles you'll want to fill up, and you get an idea of hw much fuel you've used anyway. -
Those would be useful. Can you show them in mm please Ian?

OK. Which wires have you tracked it down to? Specifically, which ones-there are plenty in your photo. What happened when you removed the isolator? Did that fix it? Did cleaning the connections make any difference?
-
remove the isolator and see if its cured. Then hold the bundle of wires tight, and wiggle just one at a time. Then clean any and all connections/earths. Not likely to be one that is bound up in black tape, but possible I suppose.
-
not at you specifically, just a general comment. so you have a fuse on the high current side of the relays you use? Great! if not, then that is what I’m saying. And I am aware of a relay’s function. I removed an aftermarket loom for. One of my Quattros because it has a 3 foot length of unfused high capacity cable from the permanent positive on the starter solenoid to the headlights. Took a while to get a few people to understand why which was, frankly, quite frightening. happily the later versions of the loom used fuses next to the solenoid.
-
Relays can carry a higher current, making a fire more likely. More fuses with the lowest acceptable rating is a better plan. You can estimate it by the size of the wiring. Never repair any wiring with a smaller wire. If the circuit needs (say) 4 amps, use a (say) 6 amp fuse, and (say) 8 amp wiring. Or use an ammeter to check the actual current carried through the circuit on startup. Of course we all have to start and learn somewhere, but I am wary of people asking for advice which shows they do not (with all due respect) have at least a basic idea of what they are doing, and are ready to admit when they have reached the end of their knowledge. I'm likely guilty of that at times too, I expect... The people who say you can't use a 12v car battery with jump leads to start a 12v motorbike, and refuse to back down, are particularly interesting to talk to.

Use a Bluetooth adaptor to whatever stereo you have, and play music/radio through the phone. Then use the satnav app as well, and the voice commands will come out of the speakers.

£1400 for a 1/8 model. -
Get yourself a wiring diagram and follow the traces. The indicators and the hazards share some wiring/relay. It's a logic puzzle to find where the problem must be. I'd guess a poor earth is the issue if the switch is working. You may want to test the switch too though-even the new one. Multimeters are less than a tenner off ebay, and are a must-have for anything like this.
