London – Black tie, fast cars, and shaken Martinis – it has to be Bond. Sir Roger Moore (1927-2017) is synonymous with the style and sophistication of James Bond, having played the spy in a total of seven films, more than any other actor in the EON series, including in Live and Let Die (1973), The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), For Your Eyes Only (1981), Octopussy (1983), and A View to a Kill (1985). More than this, Sir Roger became one of the style symbols of his generation and an icon of British cool, with his credits also including the TV shows The Saint (1962-1969) and The Persuaders (1971). On 4 October, Bonhams will offer lots from his personal collection in a dedicated sale at 101 New Bond Street, London on the 50th anniversary year of his first appearance as 007.

This 180-lot sale of his personal collection is being offered directly by Sir Roger Moore’s family, and will include important Bond memorabilia, collectables and personal ephemera. Highlights include Sir Roger Moore’s James Bond mohair double-breasted dinner suit worn for the Eiffel Tower scene in A View to a Kill estimated at £20,000 - 30,000, Sir Roger Moore's white ski suit from A View to a Kill, which has an estimate of £15,000 - 25,000, and an Omega special edition 50 Years of 007 Seamaster, which has an estimate of £20,000 - 30,000.

Harvey Cammell, Bonhams Global Director, Valuations & Private Collections, commented: “Sir Roger Moore was a true icon of the silver screen, best known for bringing his natural charm and panache to the role of 007. Bonhams is honoured to be offering his personal collection for sale and giving this unique opportunity for Bond fans to get a little closer to the man himself.”

Deborah, Geoffrey, and Christian Moore, Sir Roger Moore’s children, added: “We know how much our father meant to so many people across the globe. For many he was James Bond as well as The Saint, but he was also a kind and generous individual, as understandably proud of his charitable work as his acting career. We are delighted to be able to share his legacy with his many fans.”

Alongside work as an actor, Sir Roger Moore was also a passionate UNICEF ambassador. The family will be making a donation to UNICEF following the sale.

Other highlights of the sale include:

  • A Sir Roger Moore James Bond mohair double-breasted dinner suit worn by Sir Roger for the Eiffel Tower scene in A View to a Kill, including two pairs of trousers. Estimate: £20,000 - 30,000.

They had some of the items on display at Goodwood Revival at the Bonhams auction. Had his Dinner suit there, and a few photos.
