Starting to look for hotels near to the NEC for this event, before I book up something, which by the looks needs to be very soon as all the rooms nearby are getting booked already, has anyone else looked into this ?

Yep, tough crowd :dizzy:

If it helps I have already looked at a load of hotels next to the NEC, so if I can help in any way just let us know :no

Laura - I don't know if you are looking for any more cars, and mine is certainly not the cleanest of the bunch, but there is a gap of 8 years in the Esprit timeline and I'd like to offer to fill it with my 1988(89) 40th Anniversary Edition Esprit Turbo. I can have the car there on the Thursday and won't need it back until the Sunday. We'll probably attend the show on Sunday so I could also provide help that day if you needed it. (I can also stick around on Thursday to help with setup / whatever you might need.)

For those of you looking for hotels, talk to gghc87! But barring that, Coventry is about 15 minutes away and you can take the train there nonstop from the NEC in 10 minutes with no changes (for those of you giving up your Esprits or just not wanting to deal with NEC parking). There is an IBIS hotel in Coventry centre ( http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=e...mp;t=h&z=16 ), walkable from the train station, with rooms for 46 pounds, and if you really want to rough it, the Formule 1 next door has rooms for 26 pounds. (Reservations for both at http://www.accorhotels.com).

Yes, yes, I know, it's Coventry, but even Coventry has its gems (Spon street, Browns, InSpire) and if you've got time the Transport museum is fantastic and free.

I've not re-read the entire thread (sorry ..................... I know I should) and this may already have been flagged up, but I see Clarkson and his mates from Top Gear are doing their MPH 08 show from the NEC that same weekend. That should increase the audience .................... and the noise :)

The provisional list, since you insist (!) is:

Ken Baird - 1977 S1

Cliff Ledger - 1987 S3 HC

Adrian Heath - 1997 GT3

+ late as possible V8

There's a theme there with the '7's and the cars represent large steps in the Esprit's evolution. I'd have like to have an early Stevens car but there's only so much room so the 'decades' theme works well.

We'll be having 'decade displays' by each car of typical icons of the era etc and might even ask some people to dress up!

The 'Esprit' is a classic car, people with MY2002 cars have 'classic car' insurance with 'classic car' specialist insurers. Let's not get into a discussion on semantics though as I'm sure our opinions will vary.

Unfortunately I can't please everyone Nick when picking cars, sorry you're no longer attending and I'll source alternate accommodation now you've cancelled the room you had originally kindly booked for Laura and I. I wasn't aware it was dependant on me picking your car for the display, that wasn't made clear and to be honest, it wouldn't have affected my decision.

Main sponsor for the event is Classic and Sportscar mag, who cover all classics and sportscars upto almost present day, last year LDC had a 98 GT3 and an Exige as well as earlier Loti, shows a good evolution of the brand. Remember I had my 97 GT3 featured late last year in the mag.

By the way thanks Bibs for the invite, very flattered and chuffed, cant wait.

Ok....

We've got (most of) the cars I also need more help with volunteers and some artwork.

Could those that are able to help please pm me if you are 110% able to commit to manning the stand on one or more of the days. We really do need people who are willing to help all day as well that means 9am to 6pm(ish). We have a limited number of exhibitor passes so I'd rather not give them to people who can only hang around for an hour or two if there are people who are willing to help all day long (sorry if that sounds rude).

For those showing their cars you need to be at the NEC for as close to 5pm as possible on the Thursday to set up and get your cars in position, we'll sort out the finer points and get you your passes closer to the time. If that is going to be a problem however please let me know as soon as possible.

We also need some assistance with some display materials. I would love to get some posters up that typify each decade so if any of our budding artists and designers are able to 'knock' something up I would very much appreciate it, we can then look at getting something printed, I'm thinking A3 size if that's feasible.

I'm thinking lava lamps, spacehoppers, platform boot, hippies etc for the 70's; pac man, ray bans, rubik's cubes, leg warms for the 80's; huge trainers, glo sticks, PDA's for the 90's; the 00's might be a bit harder as we can't reflect on it but ipods, technology, TV shows music references anything that brings us up to date.

If you can help please please let me know, as you all know we don't have a huge budget (well we don't have one at all) but we'd love to make a huge impression and look professional.

Plasma_TV_Stand.gif

I'll be taking along a plasma for the videos we'll be showing and a stand would be brill. It's 32".

Also, if anyone has access to any 'Tensabarriers', I'd like 6 posts if possible. Thanks :ermm:

Hi All,

Again l-o-n-g time since my last post

are you still looking for a 03 car ?

If I get her back from SWlotus in time count me in.

--------------------------------

I've had a VERY miserable two years with my baby

20k on the clock and in the last 4K

Head Gaskets

Liners

Head skimed

virtually every bolt-on (ie water pump / air con / Alternator / ect)

Gearbox in & out twice

Timing belt done twice

2 Cams

3 Exhausts

2 Cats

2 rear bumpers

1 respray

1 flywheel

1 clutch

and to top it of the new clutch fitted 4K miles ago is shaged

as is Derek Bells gearbox and she's offen only firing on 1 bank

(all leads, plugs, and box's are new)

I was going to keep a weeky diary and post it here but

it would only severely depress you guys

It's not the money, It's the agro.

Regards Mark
