I'm no pilot but is this guy a bit active on the stick?

Never had the opportunity to utilize a sidestick controller, Bibs, but I did once ride along in the cockpit of a Lufthansa Airbus from Tel Aviv to Frankfurt to get out of Dodge years ago. I don't recall directly watching the Captain's left hand during the approach, as I was more focused on looking at the runway (it's a habit of mine when close to the ground ). It's not particularly unusual to make more "gross" corrections at low speeds, as the flight controls are programed on "fly by wire" aircraft to mimic cable controlled equivalent inputs, which generally are more "sluggish" at lower speeds (i.e., greater deflection of the control surfaces are required to achieve the desired affect). It's not unlike the stick shift on the early VW microbuses, a bit of a wet noodle affair if ever there were one.

But I feel like I'm "preaching to the choir" on this, as you were (still are?) a glider pilot, non?
