new Oyster solution

Recommended Posts

As I have been informed, the mirror effect on the front wind shield coming from the bright oyster inside leather, has been reduced by placing in a bid of black leather in the front part. So, from drivers point, there is still beige leather visible, but this negative effect is over now. A.

As an owner of an Oyster interior I can confirm the above. If you look at other posts in 'Spotted' or 'Press Launch" and elsewhere then you will see photos of early and later cars the difference is quite obvious from outside. There is a leather panel over the instrument binacle which was always there in fact but it is now black and not Oyster. The oyster barely lips over the edge of binacle now and the difference from the drivers seat on style is no different but you can see out as well as on any car. In fact because of these discussions I have now noticed my wife's Nissan Murano is actually quite bad for this and I had never noted that before!

There is - if you go looking for it - a small reflection in the left hand end of the instrument binacle (on a Rt. hand drive car) which only partly obscures minor information only and not all the time. So minor you would not normally mention it.

The whole subject brought up by the press for this particular issue can now be considered dead I feel. Lotus have responded to the initial critisicm well.

And for anyone considering one of the early dealer demo cars, this issue only affected the press cars (retained by the factory) not the demo or customer cars.
