Coffee?

Anybody tried the Aeropress system?

I've just purchased one to try, my old Delonghi espresso machine has served well but started seeping water before I engage the pump. What I've read the Aeropress should give a coffee as good as an espresso machine (reasonable espresso machine) in a minute or two, which is probably no more time that it currently takes to do one cup with the machine, and that (allegedly 4 shot) isn't enough, so often do a second cup to make a decent americano.

My lady and I just bought an AeroPress two days ago! It makes the usual blend I've been drinking for years--Bent Tree Coffee Roasters Earthquaker Devices Blend – Fair Trade Organic (which she doesn't like) taste like it was made by the hand of God. If I had to put a number on it, I'd say it's several orders or magnitude better. Like a whole new blend. So much so that now she can't stop drinking it either. Makes a killer espresso, latte, or Americano. Makes the same coffee blend from the Braun French presses we've been using taste like swill in comparison. And at half the price you can't go wrong. Simply the best homemade coffee I've ever had, period. And you you can make a great Americano with a double shot, made once. No need for two rounds of single shots.

I hear they're working on one for Civet, in which you actually pass the entire cat through a filter.

Well, it's here and I'm on a slight coffee buzz, I had to try it.

I found the first coffee was too course (I assume that's the issue) so was a little weak for my preference), so tried the inverted method and made a second cup (No I did not pour the first away), and the second was much stronger as the coffee and water stayed in contact for more than two seconds. Bye Bye espresso machine, by bye French press.

It arrived just mins after I arrived home form a shopping trip that involved http://www.thetjunction.co.uk/ , it would seem rude to pass by when out for Christmas gifts.

After 4 years and 3908 cups of coffee I've returned my Krups to the shop and got a full refund as it stopped working. Picked up a Nespresso Lattissimo after a recommendation and trying some of the coffee in the shops, very tasty and very simple for a change :)

Since getting the Aeropress (which is in almost daily use) I've also gained a ROK (now branded Presso) hand machine (not used very much as I still prefer the Aeropress) and am now awaiting a minipresso and set-up for Turkish coffee. All those produce hot coffee, and I'm now wondering whether I previously ignored / didn't notice the whole"cold brew" movement. I tried it yesterday, and loved the outcome, has anybody else tried cold brewing coffee?

I blame them for just about everything to be honest. But their most evil act is defecating the english language with missing "u's" and splurious "z's" everywhere.  Pah!  :P

Starbucks!  Tut tut.  No self respecting coffee lover should go near that place nor Costa. Only the 'muricans would think that 2 espresso shots in a gallon of hot frothy milk = good coffee. Hate the stuff they serve, probably because I've spent too long working / visiting France and Italy and other places having proper coffee in reasonably sized cups and not re-purposed oil barrels.....

'murica where because it's bigger it has to be better - yeah right. Everything's only bigger because the people are - spoken by a true fat bastard by the way - made in Britain! ;)

They will burglarize anything those Mercans.

That's just Trump...who is secretly a coffee-hating, Muslim/Mexican rapist. He's also been in secret talks with Bahar about buying Lotus and moving all production to Guantanamo. Factory tours will cost $10,000 for adults...$9,999 for kids under 10. The factory will be located across the street from the "Trump Guantanamo Casino", putting the ammo in Guantanamo. And in a new sponsorship deal, the Lotus/Starbucks F1 team will be available for driver's education classes for the teenage children of anyone with a net worth over $10B.

I have three shots in my Costa coffee. I like it and in some ways prefer it to anything I've been served on the Continent. I'm not saying that the generic High Street stuff is the best, it's just that French coffee is nothing special either.

I hate starbucks and costa, you may have gathered that!  Over rated, over priced, over sized and unfortunately over here...When did ordering a regular coffee turn into a milky mess served in a mug the size of an old handled beer glass? If I want a pint I'll go to a pub and buy a pint of ale / cider / wine etc....

At the larger offices of the firm I work for we have Starbucks coffee stalls, the hot weather usual for me used to be walk c 1 mile from the tube station to the office and go to the desk with two "Venti" iced coffees, each with two extra shots. Only once did I hear one of the members of staff comment (in a shocked tone) to the other, that it's 5 shots per cup.

Cold coffee is gross.

Cold brew coffee is not just hot coffee chilled down, it is made with cold water and takes 3/4 day to make, it seems to have less bitter taste (because the coffee isn't scalded when made). That said I don't mind an iced americano coffee (espresso shots on ice, with some cold water and cold milk).
