Check the 12v at the small wire on the starter (as above, the wire is a spade and comes off or becomes very loose). If the is nothing there, test the relay to the starter (swap with others the same next to it)

I have CDO, it's like OCD but all the letters are in alphabetical order, AS THEY SHOULD BE !

alarm reset procedure?

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Trace the wires back, find where the alarm is grafted in and loop it out...

Once done that rules it out..

You will be guessing until you eliminate the obvious...

Mine went south on the Aberdovey run, A bit embarrassing as i was running it..

Alarms of any quality can just do that..mine was expensive and only 3 years old..

I just looped it out and caught up with everyone later...to remove the egg from my face...

When you say loop.Do you mean disconnect from the join  and just reconnect it to itself?

Yes basically disconnect where it is cut into various circuits . ie starter and fuel system

and reconnect as it was before alarm fitted..

You can just put a small jumper lead across the two joints if you wish, this will work also.

In fact that is what i did with mine on the road side, due to limited access tools and time...

Been looking at the back of the starter and the white and red spade wire is fitted next to the main red live wires.there is another spade fitting 180 deg opposite it .I looks as though it had had a wire on it,but I assumed that it belonged under the red wires. On looking at the circuit diagram it looks as though it should be on the other side,if I change does anyone if this is right and what could happen.I think that I might get the auto electrician to look at it.Just in case.

I had a problem a while ago when mine wouldn't start (turned out the thin wire to the starter needed crimping and was loose). From what I remember, the large wires (either red or brown) go to the back of the starter for power and the small red/white (on mine) to a spade connector which is from the switch solenoid.

As usual an Esprit never gives up easily, had a leak from the bottom hose on the chargecooler,a bitch to get to,tightened the hose now fine. Had a wet joint on the fuel filter, put a new O ring, now sorted.Going to start tomorrow,is there a starting procedure I should take?

Hi ,just put the engine back in  after a two year refurb.I have shrunk the fault down to the primary injectors.I have a spark, the cam belt timing is correct,I have checked the fuel supply and all is fine. The symptoms that I have are as follows.Turn the engine on,fuel pressurizes for two sec, turn the engine over and nothing.Pop out the inertia switch to kill the fuel pump turn the engine over and it starts fine until it uses up the  residue fuel and then stops,if I repeat the sequence it fires every time. The only thing that is different now to when I took the engine out was that there was a nitrous kit fitted which was removed immediately and was fed via the fuel pump relay, which I have spliced back and is fine.Anyway I am stumped on this one,any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul.

Just to keep you up to date.

I have checked the timing ,electric and valves ect ,all spot on as you would expect.

Power to injectors and working.

Power to fuel pump.

I still have the same problems,it will not start with the fuel pump on ,only with it turned off until the fuel is used up.

I have only two things it can be.Some thing to do with the fuel rail or the fuel pump.

I will test the flow later this week.

I feel that this problem is still fuel related.

Does this sound familiar to any one.??
