there is a company that makes pattern copy of the Peugeot tank although I cant remember who it was now..I saw them last year and they looked fine.I wouldn't be worrying over whether Peugeot will be making them for much longer or not its not exactly a  part that needs replacement regularly

Now I'm back from holiday, I should hopefully have a bit more time to start doing things on the car. (Yeah, right, wait till the Mrs gets her job list out.)

I don't like the Peugeot tank idea, because it introduces another source of potential leakage into the engine cooling circuit, but I can see why Lotus used it. I like the idea of separate tanks for separate circuits, hence the stainless ones on offer are appealing. Ideally, I would like to see a level sensor in each tank, but clearly the engine coolant tank is the most critical one of the two.

I shall do some more thinking. Probably when I'm back at work......

You need to be sure that the Chargecooler coolant is flowing. Just repaired an S4s where it wasn't.

First thing is to repair or replace the C/C pump impeller. Should be done ever (other) C Service.  Many have installed electric chargecooler pumps.

On our car the "stalled" coolant had reacted with the aluminum in the C/C system, resulting in calcified (?) blockages in several of the hoses and pipes.

Read this Topic and look at the pictures...

The rather long Topic is here:

Bibs' test simply is to go for a spirited drive, then park and put your hand on the chargecooler box.  If you involuntarily withdraw your hand in pain, the C/C coolant is not circulating...

Sorry for re-awakening this thread but I have a simple question.

What year Peugeot 205 does the S4s get it's header plastic tank from?

(or is it simply 'any 205'?)

I like the idea of (possibly cheap) spares.

Thanks.

Stimpy, the Peugeot dealer told me that those tanks are NLA, so I bought one off ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOTUS-ESPRITE-COOLANT-TANK-/161144761399?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2584f9ec37

It looks OK to me, and it was cheap enough. The tank levels sensor was still available from Peugeot when I bought one back end of last year.
