Hi everyone! I'm new here!

Current driving a Porsche 997 GT3 and just ordered a Evora 400 in White with Alcantara red interior.

Has anyone noticed that on Lotus official page, the black front lip has been removed from black pack option. Does it mean that the front lip will be in black regardless if black pack is chosen or not? Thanks.

Welcome to TLF 6 MT. :welcome:

You should duck over to the Introductions section and say hi in there as well. :)

There is a glovebox which, in the one I saw, had a USB cable to connect your phone. The glovebox is very small though - you could fit a service manual, your phone, and may be a wallet and keys, not much more.

There are also door pockets although they are a little shallow. I think that's it.

I see that as a positive though - less clutter!

Just got my email too Dave. It's a very impressive piece of marketing actually.

Are we sure it is actually from Lotus :)

Just got mine too via Lotus Silverstone - very slick! Must resist, but I am quite tempted to go along and drop a million hints about Motorsports Green being the colour everyone is talking about, to prime the second hand market in a few years time :D

Just had the pleasure of experiencing the 400 alongside Scott Walker at the corporate day in advance of the Ingleston Revival this weekend. Hugely impressive speed and handling as expected - I'd use the same description as I did with the previous version 'other worldly' - but it was the 'togetherness' of the thing that left the biggest impression. It feels very solid, no creaks and groans, a nice metallic snicketiness to the gear shift, the solid thunk of the door, very nice 'oily' feel to all the controls etc. They've definitely moved the game on from the previous version.

Nice to meet Scott at last after following his career remotely - we spent most of the hot laps talking about our respective Esprit addictions! He didn't care to be reminded of his younger self starring role in the Esprit - Addiction for Life video from years ago however  Damn, forgot to get his autograph...........

How does it stack up to the V8 Esprit if I may ask?

I too had a pax run and couple of laps in the 400 with Scott at Ingleston. It is an impressive step up from the 'old' Evora. Well screwed together, massively quick, everything the old car is and so much more - and the sound is utterly amazing. There was a Lamborghini, a Jag and a Ferrari on the track but the Evora sounded better than everything else !!

Any comparison is meaningless I think Vanya. The game has moved on so far since the Esprit, even the final ones, that it can't hope to compete on performance, dynamics, quality and all the 'normal' measures you would assess a sports car against. On the short drive I had to today, acceleration, handling, braking, stability and yes, even the noise with the valve open, are in a different league compared to the Esprit. Maybe on a long smooth motorway run the Esprit might get close to the comfort of the Evora for us older, traditional types...

Scott made an interesting comment. As you know he is a lifelong Esprit fanatic. With the Esprit, especially in the wet, you have to be tuned in all the time. Once it goes, it goes. The Evora is much more controlled and its easier to relax.

Having said all that, the Esprit has wider seats (comfortable but don't hold you as well), more interior room and is in a different league when it comes to luggage space. I doubt my wife would approve when she saw the Evora boot space available for a weekend away! And lets not forget the pop up headlamps. The Esprit certainly gives the Evora a run for its money presence-wise.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just saw my v8 Esprit at the dealer with a SOLD sign on it...  *cries*...   I miss it so much already.  Still the best looking car on the lot.

Please sooth my soul with some updates about USA orders please! Like, how much notice will I have on my build date ? Need to know early if i choose to manage the travel challenges of visiting..

I am with you on that one.  Or if we could just persuade everyone to order any colour but grey and white, I'd be happy.  With the roof the same colour as the rest of the car please; I think a black roof looks terrible on these cars because of the way the body work curves up to a point behind the side windows.

Lotus Australia still aren't listing the 400 on the Aussie website. No idea why. If I had any possibility of buying one I would call them to find out.

Brochure available for download at Lotus website now: http://www.lotuscars.com/sites/default/files/documents/Lotus_Evora_400_Official_Brochure_en_gb.pdf

Nice to see that they are actually communicating with potential customers. Got the e-mail about the 400 last night. Not long ago I got a similar e-mail about the Exige range. Way to go Lotus
