Suspension upgrade

Having purchased the Lotus developed Eibach/Bilstein upgrade some time back from TLF shop, I decided to have it fitted during this 'cooler' weather, ready for Spring.

I picked it up from Jez and Ben at Back on Track in Guildford today. What a revelation! When folks on here say it's the best upgrade you can give your Esprit, I agree. I have an old Series 3 Daimler Double Six, (and that ride is legendary), and to say the Esprit reminded me of that would be an exaggeration, but what a huge improvement. She now absorbs everything so much better and the all-round driving feel is so satisfying. Jez also had the geo carried out "weighted".

I would not notice the difference I am sure, but it is good to know it is as per Lotus factory settings.

 

Anyone else find the upgrade a big advance?

I fitted it to my TE having had the worst handling car that the Lotus professional driver had driven (I think that's how he described it). There were changes in tarmac that would send me from one side of a lane to the other, or getting caught in wheel ruts actually forced me out of a lane and into the next (I pulled over thinking a wheel was loose). I should add that the dampers and springs were c12 months old after-market ones that are well known.

The Lotus upgrade gave me confidence in the car, it was like night and day. Yes, I had a ride-height issue but that was due to a light TE body on an SE subframe so had to change the front springs.

big difference, but original suspension was in very poor condition (collapsed rubber spring buffers, shot springs, dropped ride height, etc)

I have to do this on my SE this spring but I'm unsure about the financial outlay - is it so much better than OEM shocks and bushes? My only gripe is that rear springs and dampers don't seem to be available for the SE anymore (the OE stuff)....

What does the whole lot cost nowadays? Last I checked it was just getting more and more pricey for the new springs/dampers....

can you elaborate a bit more on the differences between the LOTAC and the Nitron suspension? (price is almost the same).

Comments above reference the LOTAC suspension, there are comments here about the Nitron suspension...

thx quick answer, read all of it, but I like to know which one is the better one, quality wise and handling wise.

There's nothing between them in truth apart from the Nitrons being adjustable and with a movable spring platform. Lotus obviously make top notch suspension and Nitron supply Lotus with suspension (it's the OEM set up on the Exige Cup). Choice is really up to you.
