We've done them in the past, in fact for hundreds of people at a time with exclusive access etc. I did suggest to JMG about one this year, but it's not going to happen with timing at the moment, perhaps another time.

Interesting. I noticed you said you were there on Thursday but it looks very quiet, were people working?

Also, did you see any elises being made and if so, was it the new style or old?

The factory visit is the one thing I missed by buying a stock car. I've done an open day, but this was just before the Evora was launched, so large swathes of the factory were hoarded off.

I am not sure that any other manufacturer would enable this kind of access. It was a revelation. Your right about the level of engineering & build effort underpinning the Evora. Also noteworthy was the extensive use by Lotus of UK companies in their component supply chain. (Apart from the base engines & gear box, but both of course are heavily modified on arrival ). Obviously AP stand-out because they have retained branding rights on the brakes, but the fibreglass body panels (N. Ireland) & carbon (Norfolk) are coming from small UK specialists as well. The quality of bodywork in both raw and finished state was impressive. Scott did say that he would try to provide some more pics of the car as it progresses through build to completion and 'sign-off' before delivery. If he finds the time to do this I will share pics on here.

The factory was absolutely flat-out from end to end. They are pushing hard to meet their EOY targets and it was a hive of activity. Apparently they are on a 24hr production cycle until they get there. Scott waited to take the pictures when the guys at that stage of production were on a break. He took all the pics because understandably they are sensitive about personal and commercial privacy.

I am obviously no expert, but I was surprised by the sheer volume of cars nearing completion. There were a significant number of Exige 380s, (including a very angry looking all black full carbon packed car with a Ti exhaust), a number of federal Evora 400s, A good few LHD 410s destined for Europe (white seems to be the new colour of choice and looked fabulous in contrast to the carbon panels and slate grey decals). There were a few Elise Cup 250s (spotted a beautiful example almost finished in what looked like signature persian blue) & Sprint 220s around as well, but overall I got the feeling that Evoras and Exige 380s are where the volume is at present. Not very scientific I'm afraid!

It will be really interesting to hear your thoughts after you have run the 410 for a while on how it differs from your 400. There must be a fair few of us wondering whether it's worth the swap price from a 400

I do love the colour. I asked about the spec, it's fully loaded. I'm the type who thinks you're better off with a 400 if you're going to load it up with extras. 410 needs to be kept lean and mean!

So no, will let this one pass. For £89k it has to be my perfect spec and I would rather put a factory order in and wait few months, no hardship with a V6 Cup in the garage.

looking at the spec of this car: it seems that no dealer will order a 410 without satNav / airco............. would like to hear an Impression of how a 410 without Sound insulation would "behave" in real life

this one was on the market a few weeks ago, and the colour was gorgeous... Looks like a slightly different shade of blue than the silverstone one!

I have no sound insulation in my 410. Its not noisy inside. I am very happy with the sound.

O my opinion the sound insulation is waste of money.

Yes it comes with the stereo which makes complete sense. But I wouldn't have a stereo in a Sport 410 so would be tempted to save the extra 5.5kg and go without sound deadening too (more like 10kg without the stereo). -10kg = +2bhp per ton. Not a great amount but pretty much offsets the aircon.

I believe @Savage410 mentioned satnav yes, airco no in his calculation around february @The Pits (would love to remember more things in my life as detailed ;-)

I suspect that the reversing camera is going to be a key tool in a 410 due to the restricted rear view. I use it all the time in the 400 which in theory has much better visibility. That influenced speccing in the stereo as much as anything.

Also the one benefit of the otherwise ugly Proton side mirrors is they do provide a big enough field of view around that big assed rear end and down to lower rim height.
