The Excel Diaries!

Hi Chris ?

Snap indeed!

It all depends on when I can pick it up as there are a few little bits still to be done on it.

Will let you know if I do. Would be great to compare.

When I test drove it I was amazed as how quickly I got used to it. I was very impressed with it....and it sounds lovely too! ?

Although there are a number opposites to the Esprit:

  • pedal offset
  • Wiper/indicator stalks
  • Door lock turns the other way

I've just purchased an 89 Excel SE which is in amazing condition. It's a 1 owner car...36000 miles and kept in a heated garage all its life.

Wow, what a lucky find, and properly serviced too!  You lucky bugger.  Great car but seriously overlooked...

It's always been overshadowed by the Esprit and Lotus never really marketed it well enough. It's a shame so many get broken up too.

As we all like photos......here is one of the interior.

Just an update. The car will be coming up for sale soon. I would love to keep it but simply have too many to be dealing with and need to focus on what I am doing.

I am still having work done to it and would love for it to stay within the TLF family. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll give you more info, otherwise when it is officially for sale I will post here first before anywhere else.

In prep for sale, got a batch of Gliptone's Liquid Leather kit made up to match my car. Not applied it yet but the sample is bang on for colour.

Fortunately with the Excel, providing a sample is easy - I just popped my headrest off!

I still have the V8, that's why I am selling this - one of them needs to go and this car (ex-Kimbers) is too nice to muck around with!

Ok , would be nice to see some pics of the v8 project ? . What are you expecting to get for the SE ? , not that i'm going to make a bid , but I have just purchased a 92 se blind . Was wondering about values ?

Thanks

Lee

As much as I can Lee, it seems difficult to get a good idea for values really. Especially when you see people advertising a "mint" car then finding out it hasn't had a belt in five years, etc...

The new owner did an introduction on Excelnet. He seems very happy with it, so it's gone to a good home. :)

And I understand the dilemma James, I find it hard to justify keeping my Excel as well now that I have the Elan JPS. But it's such a great car to drive on twisty roads...

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

Sorry, must have missed that one. I did recognize the car on the other forum, so checked here. ;)
