Evora Servicing South West

I've got my first service coming up for the Evora (6th for the car, 54000 miles). I'm living in Exmouth so for a Lotus stamp I've a choice of driving to Plymouth and Snows Lotus or twice as far to the other side of Bristol and Williams. Or for an indie down to SWLC in Lifton which is a bit further than Plymouth but out in the styx as far as wasting time when I'm there.

Snows would be most convenient for me as I can kill time in Plymouth, but being a Toyota/Lexus garage and servicing only for Lotus I don't know how much Lotus traffic they will see through the workshop. I'm looking to get Miguel's stainless mudguard brackets fitted, as well as service (inc sparkplugs) and MOT.

Has anyone got any recommendations (or not) for any of the three options?

240 mile round trip to SWLC for me, not just mechanics, down to earth Lotus enthusiasts with donkeys years of experience.

I took my Evora to Williams in Bristol and quite honestly it was the worst experience I've ever had with any garage. I keep meaning to write a full review on here and Google when I can spare an hour or so!!

They are a nice bunch of blokes in person and I'm sure their longer term customers might get treated better, but I honestly wish they'd turned me away, they're far to busy to provide any decent level of customer service, well certainly to me they seemed to be.  I spent thousands of pounds there so it wasn't even like they weren't getting money from me.  Their planning of work was shocking, their communication awful, I was constantly having to chase up for progress reports.  When I eventually got the car back after about six (yes six!!!!) months, they hadn't refitted bits correctly, they'd even manage to fix my number plate leaving a rubber glove trapped behind it and there was still outstanding work I had to go back to get finished.  I could list a whole catalog of errors and stupidity I had to deal with!! My issues were actually never fully resolved but I've given up with them now!!!

6th service is spark plugs isn't it - my car was only 20k miles in 6 years but I did the plugs anyway.

Buy them from Elise Shops ( a sponsor on here ) and save yourself a fortune - circa £90 versus the £200+ the dealer will want. I did this earlier this year, they are the exact same Denso Toyota plugs too.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

^^^^ What he said.

Yep, I can also vouch for getting the plugs from the Elise Shop (exactly the same as those quoted in the Service Notes) and having them fitted at the service. Mine were done at the end of August at the annual service.

Lover of everything Lotus Cars and proud owner of production Evora No.75 (2nd UK customer specced car by VIN). Originally from the Far East....of Anglia, I read black box data for a living so that could explain a lot!

Really. Oh FFS that's just stupid. Never mind Bibs I'll look around the other sponsors and share the cash, I mean love, with them.

Always got good service from Elise Shop, and got good service from 2bular too. Shame they can't just get on with it...

My service book has the spark plugs at 54000 miles, which coincidentally I've just hit (50000 belonging to previous owners...) so I am planning on getting them done. I was kind of intrigued if Snows would quote the spark plugs from the Lotus or Lexus price lists when prompted but as they haven't yet replied to their online query form (I'm at work offshore Egypt so phoning is tricky) and the autoreply email suggests the site is closed (see picture) it's looking increasingly like SWLC will get the work by default.
