Evora...problems??

I think the above nicely summarises the early Evora ownership experience. Whether you get a troublesome one or not depends a bit on pot luck - it's the nature of hand built cars. If you love your car enough you'll put up with it for the driving experience, if not, buy a Japanese car!

Having been a long term Alfa owner and then a Jag, I'm not scared of the reliability of the car. These things are usually blown out of proportion by people who are used to Japanese cars that never ever break. As soon as something happens, it's the worst car ever.

My one and only concern with the Evora is parts availability and I think it's something that people should be mindful of. It was a pain when my Alfa started getting old that you couldn't get parts without a great deal of effort and the Evora has a few of those issues (though at least you CAN get parts at the moment, you just have to wait). I do hope that as it gets older and no longer in production either Lotus support it via a 'classic' parts production initiative, as other manufacturers have done or the aftermarket pick up the slack.

Yes, this is certainly my biggest issue too. Things go wrong on cars, that's expected, the problem is when they do I've had problems getting them fixed. First with the aircon the auxiliary belt was out of stock for 3 months, and now with my door latch it's been out of stock for a good few months and there are 19 on back order. I don't mind if things go wrong occasionally, but it's frustrating when you can't get them fixed, as it now means I don't know whether my car will start when I want it to.

Never ever used an engine degreaser in 35 years of driving. What am I missing?

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Guuuuys, which engine degreaser do you use? Is any of these are good?

Surfex HD is very good stuff for engine bays in my experience. It can be used at various dilutions for other kinds of cleaning jobs too.
