  1. An impromptu meet. I was parked up and an Emira pulled in. Had a quick chat and were on our way again. Quite a coincidence.
  2. I suspect you could probably spec down to the smaller wheels if you wanted. They do improve ride a bit. If you do get the certificate, you should definitely look at getting it with forum membership.
  3. Seems like it's a pup popular(ish) mod in the US for some reason, I've seen it a few times.
  4. I really don't understand insurance. Parking on a narrow road where cars are regularly taken out by lorries and stolen and commuting, costs less (by around 20%) on insurance than living in an affluent low crime area in a private road, parking in a locked garage, not commuting and using another car... Eh?
  5. I agree with Trev. It was always the word on the street that you couldn't easily get a 400 system on an S1. Would be great to know if it sounds like a 400 and if it's a sod to fit.
  6. Note, if you scroll down a few threads you will see a similar thread. It's not always your arb bushes. There are still a few cars where this has happened occasionally with no explanation. Just goes away again and seems to be something that causes no actual issue and it's undiagnosed to this point.
  7. Firstly, when I was a kid I loved Lotus Esprit turbo challenge and would discuss driving physics with my dad while playing it. My next encounter was the first Exige which I thought looked absolutely epic and a proper weapon (Exiges are great). Then, years ago, when I had an Alfa GTV (which I still love) I sat back to back in a TVR Cerbera and an Elise. The Elise felt perfect, then I went out in it and it was a hell of a lot more comfortable than I was expecting on the move as well. Finally when I wanted back into a sports car after a super barge, I wanted something that was relatively light, not too wide, fun to drive, naturally aspirated, manual, good on road trips and not as fast in a straight line as my old car which you could just never enjoy. I also wanted it to be fun in every situation and a bit quirky. I also missed the Alfa effects. Both the friendly wave (alas now lost to newer Alfas) and the fact that if something fell off you never felt bad, it was part of the charm. So I bought an Evora!
  8. I've seen one now, on the back of a transporter on the M4 (all the new Lotus can be spotted on that route quite early seemingly). Looks alright. A bit big looking, but alright.
  9. I think this translates to: 'We wanted to make it louder but that's illegal so we worked around the rules and called it protection'
  10. So, being in the position of looking at 'buying' a commuting car, I'm going to be using our company salary sacrifice scheme to 'buy' an electric car. Why? Well, it's cheap. The cost of the salary sacrifice scheme is around the same as buying and running a second hand car (if you include the savings on fuel that electric brings) and I get a new car that does what it needs to do to run back and forth to work. I would *definitely* not buy an electric car outright at the moment. Not a chance. I think this is probably the average tale of an electric car 'buyer' at the moment. Therefore the price actually doesn't matter much. The monthly costs on cars is pretty random and some cars with high RRP are actually pretty cheap monthly on salary sacrifice opposed to some of the supposed cheaper cars. I suspect this has to do with residuals. I therefore believe that the success or otherwise of any electric car is going to be based on how much they are in similar schemes. The headline value is of little interest to me.
  11. I'm surprised that these last so long on the Evora. They were terrible trouble on the Jag I had. Constantly failing to open, I got quite skilled at levering it open at the fuel pump
  12. Against the A110-R https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/2024-alpine-a110-r-vs-2015-lotus-evora-gte/48234 You do feel that these reviewers suddenly realise the Evora is really good every time they get back in one and forget in between
  13. Both flashed and waved. Lovely looking car.
  14. These are interesting, but the problem with laptime charts is that tyre tech makes a huge difference. This means that some of these cars being tested several years apart and on completely different tyres are completely incomparable.
  15. It's not hard to get another fob if one isn't working though it's a bit of a pain to reprogram. The alarm and immobiliser seem to be reliable. Belts will need changing obviously, but not the biggest job in the world, the chains almost certainly need checking around 100k miles as per every other car with cam chains. Paint blistering often appears under the boot/engine hatch. Can obviously be fixed if necessary. AC should still work even when it's cold. It's blooming freezing if you use it to defrost your window in the winter.
  16. SWLotus have found the problem. A piece of rust in the ABS ring. A very quick fix but not the quickest thing to find. Worth putting on the checklist if you have a similar issue.
  17. It shouldn't be the battery it's about a year old and gets regular use. I'm feeling confident about Bruss' suggestion at the minute
  18. Thanks Bruss. I didn't know that could cause the same lights to come on. You might be onto something as the car is very lumpy after clutch engagement in second as well, which would marry with the clutch sensor.
  19. Well, it's had a new sensor and the lights are still on. I suspect the issue is actually something relay related, some clicking can be heard randomly coming from the back seat area... I'll update when I find out what is causing it
  20. Yeah, the OBD reader shows no faults. Not the best state of affairs to drive around in winter with no driver aids, the rain this morning for example! I'll order a switch and have a go at changing it, doesn't look too bad from the internet searches as long as I get the right part. PITA that it happens at Christmas time just after our other car got nicked!
  21. So, I've got the good old TC and ABS lights on. As it's the middle of winter, difficult to get a garage that's ready to deal with it and I need the car, do we know if it fails 'Safe' or fails 'dangerous' i.e. are all my driver aids on or off? Save doing some enthusiastic (and possibly dangerous) testing, I thought I would check if anyone knew.
  22. I've heard a similar noise a couple of times. Everything checked, bushes are new, no play all good. The noise only happened a couple of times then went away. The first time I stopped immediately as I thought, as you said, a spring had snapped. I heard it again a few months later and went away. Checked again, nothing to be found, all seems fine and the noise has gone again. Initially suspected to be a stray stone or something but it seems odd it came back. I'll let you know if I ever find it but it only happened a couple of times and then disappears for months on end so who knows! Currently no noises at all.
  23. Apparently, the police have concluded their investigation... It's definitely not there anymore. Job's a good'un 😂.
  24. Yeah, it's really annoying. Can't stand people who don't respect other people. Abarth are easy to steal it seems. Largely just need a device for the OBD to override the immobiliser. They don't fit alarms to them. Apparently 7-10% of registered ones get stolen a year 🤯
  25. Came out of the house today to take a hedgehog to the rescue centre, key in hand and there was an empty space where the Abarth was last night. No idea how as the keys are safe and it's not keyless. No glass on the floor. Bugger.
