Retrofit heated seats?

Fitting should be easy enough, but how easy to retro fit the heated part?

No overkill, but the yellow crest would go nice with blue once the stitching is recoloured.

But I have seen elsewhere that the ECU will need programming. Believe the wiring may be there.

My only concern is how yellow the stitching is, compared to the Orange yellow of solar yellow, if that makes sense?

We'll see, when the too get put together. Interestingly the yellow was the highest price.

All you need is 2 people who want them and they had us. I've been planning a bit of a retrim for a while, exactly this for the seats, but I also have a spare "premium pack" set of trim to be done in suedetex to match the seat centre.

I managed to get the GP set with the red stiching, so now on the look out for dash and door re-trim!

My old 2010 car Had 3 of the 4 elements and wiring in the dash. I bought the switch, put the fuse and relay in, even got the dealer to verify the ecu had it activated but never got them to work. The remote boot switch worked though! Gave up in the end.

The seats are only single stage heating so may be easier to fit a switch in the seat as per some retrofit kits.

There is one in each seat base and seat back, 4 in total. Mine was a late 2010 car, so technically it didnt have the heated seats. However one had both elements and the other had just the base element. One of the seats actually had the wires hidden in the base, I had to fish them out. I still have the switch which I can sell you at a discount lol! I cant remember how much it was new other than bloody expensive! Its best to check you have the wiring behind the switch panel for it first.

Well given the seats are replacement items (as per ebay link in first post) I know the seats are definitely heated.

Just need to confirm wiring is there and get ECU activated.

I've asked Murray's to check this just now, I collect the car Saturday.

Clearly if the wiring is there, then I'll get the ecu activated in advance and if the wiring isn't there, then I'll just have nice new seats without heater elements or look at retro fitting a wiring/switch kit without using the car's existing loom.

And if the wiring is there, I'll definitely be interested in the switch panel from you!

You will need to install a fuse and relay. Worse case as you say, you will need to wire a 12v feed to them. No worries just give me a shout if you do.

I was bidding on both the black with yellow stitching and also black with red, so it looks like we were all bidding against each other. also tried bidding on several sets of Venom red but didn't want to go as high in these as I have a black interior. I ended up not winning any!

I quite like the idea of alcantara so I am going to get a price on having mine retrimmed locally.

I'd have bid on the red if they'd been listed the other way around, but preferred the yellow and thought they'd probably go for less as well. D'oh

I believe Dave the trimmer is around £1k for a pair, so it nudged over the tipping point for me.

Well as per my posts in the E-bay section & Dave knows I 'won' the Black with red trim seats last week.  I was discussing with Craig at MMC who would be able to simply fit them (i.e. plug and play simple) as my old seats are heated.  He thought the wiring loom parts existed on cars built after Aug 10 or so I think he said and it only took fitting of the switches and connecting all the bits.  He wasn't 100% sure about that though so don't quote me.

 

So that also means I have a pair of black heated seats from a Feb 11 build car available for sale in mid April once I'm back from offshore and the new ones are fitted.  This will help my man-maths justification to SWMBO. If anybody is interested PM me.  They are undamaged, do heat the bum and back, as somebody said on a single level control, and will be at MMC for looking at.

I spoke to Craig today, as he was servicing my car ready for collection on Saturday.

He was gonna have a look to see if my car had wiring and enable the ecu if needed.

So hopefully I can then fit the seats and the switch panel, job done.....fingers crossed it's that easy!

Oh and my car was registered as a lotus management car in October 2010... Chassis number says its an MY11 car.... So who knows if it's a post Aug build date.

Because in the standard fit, the switches on the dash are momentary switches that tell the ECU to switch a relay.

I've bought two looms consisting of switches, relays and connectors. They simply need a 12v power feed and the switches locating.
However, it's a "when I get round to it job"

Oh ok. Your second way makes more sense to me. Switch has 12V feed once car is running, switches relay. Wait 5 minutes. Warm butt.

Can this be retro fitted to a 2009 car? Do you have part numbers for the items you bought please?

One thing I would say about my new seats are that they are the Suedetex ones and are excellent. They aren't hot to sit in when it's summer and they aren't cold in winter. If I ever change my Evora to a later one (apart from post 2013) then I'll probably ask to swap my seats over!

That was the loom kit I bought.

I have a new set of connectors, for connecting the loom to the seat panels. And then you just need to find somewhere, to drill 2x half inch holes to mount the 2way switches.

I paid £26.50 inc p&p for the 2 looms, they supplied the looms without the pads they normally sell.
