I admit, I like some of the crazy Max Power stuff, Karl, but how is that cool?? Form requires *some* function for me, and that has NONE. It makes NO sense.

its cool becuse its different and looks very impressive. supercars are about show, pull up with normal doors or pull up with those, ppl will be impressed with the lambo conversion.

and as for function, they open normally also just not as wide

I dread to think what's on your mind right now!

Looks different and is a poke at the Lambo boys but I liked the 360 as it is. I'm sure it the right circles it hits the right spot

No chick thinks that's cool, trust me. It's silly, pointless and affected.

..but to each his own... the world is full of people who where Bluetooth earpieces.

LOL, agreed there! They're fine in the car but why walk about all day with it in?

Scissor doors are cool. :welcome: They really define the cars they came on. But on the other hand, I like cars that are themselves not trying to be a Lambo or Vector. A Ferrari is cool enogh without trying to be a Lambo. Those Koenigsegg door are wicked cool. How many ways can you open a door?

Karl, check out www.lambodoorkits.co.uk.

They'll do a decent discount for club/forum members. If you (or anyone else) is interested, PM me for more info.

You obviously only park in fields, have a huge drive and at least a double garage. For those of us who are less fortunate, lambo doors make great sense. I was looking at these for (almost) purely practical reasons. A wide car plus long doors is not practical when you've only got 18" between your car and the 4x4 that's squeezed into the space next to you. My drive is so narrow that I've only just over a foot between the car and my neighbours bushes so I risk scratching the car every time I park up, and I've read of several people who can't drive their cars into their garage because they'd never be able to get out of them. In the world most of us inhabit, how can you say that lambo doors are NOT functional?

The only downside for me (apart from putting up with ill-informed accusations of being an attention seeker) is that the kit linked to above weighs 38lbs, which is more dead weight than I'd be happy lugging around, but I'm still tempted for the sake of my paintwork and the peace of mind that I'll still be able to get into my car when I return to where it's parked.

hi Phil,

I like the practical aspect of the doors going up. I get idiots who park close a t work making really difficult to get in or out. At some point security will tell me to stop using two spaces! I would be interested to know more.

here is an Elise with scissor doors / lambo doors

I always thought the purpose of scissor and gullwing doors was to make getting in and out of the car easier when the combination of low roof and long door (and maybe wide sill) dictated. Same as why GT40 doors cut into the roof. Not to say, "look my lambo has cool doors" . . . cool is a result of function.

I also wonder about crash protection with an aftermarket kit that, let's face it, is aimed at the bling market.

But I see Phil's point, for his situation. . . . Phil: if you ever get the scissor doors, you should invite everyone over and have them park in your drive!

Finally, I know "extreme" marketing is in, but isn't the photo of the yellow Elise above rotated just a bit too far? Seriously . . . it's more than 45 degrees . . . plus they distorted the shape --- I'm getting a headache trying to look at it!

I'm sorry CT, but I think you're full of 5hit. While I'm sure your problem is very real, I guarantee you as soon as you had those things fitted you'd be driving all over town looking for an excuse to open your doors in front of girlies and impressionable teens.

Gimme a break...

Lucas.
