Hi, after several decades of wanting a Lotus, I finally achieved that goal yesterday with the arrival of my purple 2005 Elise 111s. It certainly needs some work, and any device long the way would be gratefully received. The aim is to to come custom mods, for fast road use not track, but nothing over the top. As it came off the trailer, the engine cover lock fell off, and has clearly done so before. What is the best adhesive to stick metal to glass fibre? Thanks

Hi all - just joined, just got an Elise s2 that has a warped 120 K series and I want to replace it with either a 160 Vvc or the Toyota engine…or maybe just the same as it had. Not sure…what are the costs and pitfalls ?! Is there a best place to source engines ? Any help much appreciated 👍

Hi all, First post so be gentle with me :). Over the next year I am planning on building my next race car. The series I compete in gives me pretty much unlimited options. The Elise has for sometime been on my mind as the best car for the job albeit underpowered. Usual google search brings many different options for engine convrsions, but most posts are many years old so thought I would see the current consensous. What I need from the engine is around 300bhp and a decent whack of torque from relatively low down the rev range so that may influence opinions. As far as I can see I have the following options: 1. Ford Duratec - There se…

So I thought I'd do a bit of a thread on my resto build of my Exige MY10 Cup260 - on the v6 area we had a build area, but its not something that seems to be here so I thought I'd just put it here. Its always useful for other owners to find what has been done before so they don't need to repeat the same mistakes. It's going to be pretty long so will come in chunks.Mods please feel free to move if there is a better place! First few posts set a bit of scene, so please forgive the wordy elements - what turned into a pit of a tart up, has turned into a rebuild with no end in sight… Anyway long time Exige/Elise owner: Elise Sport160, Exige S1 x2, Exige S2 x 2 …

This could be a lot of fun, maybe a little too much fun. from article: the Elise/Exige was given an Audi 2.2 20V turbo motor and 6 speed O2M gearbox., producing a crazy 550 horsepower. 17 pictures and details .

Hi everyone. Today I finally received the good news from my Lotus dealer: the VIN and delivery date. I figured, the Exige forums have dedicated build threads, why shouldn't the Elise owners be able to have one as this place is filled with enthousiasts driving and modifying the *bleep* out of their cars. I've always been a big Lotus fan ever since the original Elise and this is the first one I'm actually buying. I was in long doubts on buying a Cup 430, however I plan to use it more as a track car and I couldn't justify the higher tax and higher runningcost for the purpose I'm planning on using it for. I can always trade in later if I still feel the power is too low o…

As the engine is clearly visible through the mesh I was thinking of doing some painting to make it look a bit more...special. I ruled out painting it body colour as it would be a bit ott so decided for some detail highlights. I think it came out quite well. I'll get some pictures of it back on the car when it's fully dry. Good fun little project!!

Hey everyone, I hope I am in the correct forum here. I am going to swap my engine at my lotus Elise 111r to a rotary engine, but therefore I would like to know some dimensions from the engine compartment. I want to make some Cad sketches to fit my new engine properly, but I don’t want to disable the car now doe to the nice weather :D. I hope someone out there already got a disabled lotus and could do me a big favour. I would appreciate if someone could give me some of those measurements or maybe someone already got a CAD file for me. Kind regards Alexander D

can anyone recommend a reliable outfit to undertake a light refresh job on my S1 Exige? The car has covered just under 30,000. I am not looking for a nut and bolt ground up restoration (because I don't think it needs it) but something more in depth than just a service. It's going to to be the usual areas that will need attention, like stone chips, seat and trim wear, chassis corrosion etc. I am looking to bring this 14 year old classic back to it's former glory

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson, "More power", now the car is doing as it should, it could use more power. The Honda R conversion looks interesting, but the "kit" to do the change seems expensive, and unclear as to what is essential and what is optional. Any advice?

I have a notion to do an engine upgrade, so here begineth my research. I have a 2002 Rover engined Elise. Favorite seems to be the Honda R and 6 speed gearbox with LSD How many variants and sizes are there, are some better suited than others? Looking at the engine, induction and exhaust are reversed, as it seems is the gearbox. So how do you fit it? can you reverse the crown wheel and pinion, turn the engine the other way around? I suspect it's not that easy, engine mounts, exhaust, induction, and most of all electrics. Any one done, wishes they hadn't ? Any documented such projects on this forum? (or elsewhere) Like I say, how hard can it be.

For over 11 years I'm driving my MK1 Elise and I already had loads of fun. The enige is still running as if it is new, nothing to complain, but after 11 years I'd like to have little bit more power. I have a Honda K20A2 lying next to the Elise, but the conversion kits are very expensive imho. If I cold find an affordable I would go that route. A good alternative might be a replacing my engine with a 160 BHP (VVC) engine from an mg-f, I'm able to buy a decent second hand engine, but should I go that route what needs to be changed? Any one an idea, how I can change the cable tree easily? I need to change the ECU as well I presume? Any thoughts would be great, before I ju…
