  1. Its the air we have up here...and dont drink the water...youll hallucinate too..
  2. Henry looking like a proud Alan Carr impersonator holding aloft a pair of oversized nipple tassles....
  3. After all the excitement im having to drop out of tonight im afraid. ..work has requested my attendance. .the cheek eh...on the plus side it gives you lot a chance of keeping the prizes south of the border...
  4. Not long got back from the show...an excellent time and as always some wonderfull motors and interesting peeps to talk to. Its a shame we wernt there to hold up the lotus massive...however in retrospect the hall with the dream rides in wasnt a bad place to be. I think this year they had better organised it and kept the stands away from the doors as I could see. I think Bibs decision was right based on what is normally the case..I remember last year it certainly was cold n fumey around there..hopefully next year we can make a come back and get TLF out there to the masses...
  5. No. The feed goes from the filter attached to the bulkhead onto the plenum nozzle then from there onto the end of the fuel rail. The return is a smaller hose that comes from the pressure regulator on the opposite end of the fuel rail and through the sidewall near the air filter box and back onto the tank. If your concerned it might be fuel starvation then undo the fuel line at the filter place in a pot or suitable contain er and switcgh on the ignition. The pump should run and push fuel out the hose
  6. I know...its the risk of time travel..u loose track easily
  7. Just cause were up here u dont need to SHOUT ill send out carrier pigeons...
  8. Trev your right it doesnt bode well....dodge1867 ?? You've aged me an extra 132 years...in which case either I have a flux capacitor attached to my esprit and im actually from the past (best make sure I dont run into myself and cause a time thingy) or your naff at remembering things...in which case its a good job youll have the answers written down..you will have them written down wont you?... PS dont be colourist about our country Weve just got colour TV...
  9. I modified my hoist with additional legs, wheels and an extended reach..its easier to take the gearbox out first then remove the engine..gives you so much more room..at least with my S4..
  10. rest the entire car on axle stands..however.. place the stands under the bell of each brake disc..that is the closest point that you can support the car on to where the wheel bolts on..then bounce it a few times and leave it a few days to settle..obviously with all suspension bolts loose...
  11. My two penith...I powdercoated everything over a coating of Zinga. Zinga is a 98% pure Zinc coating. As close to galvanising as youll get without hot dip. Its good stuff..mine are still in excellent condition..although just starting to go on the leading edge of front ARB and front edge of lower arms...this is because of the aggressive nature of the UK roads in the winter.it just wears away anything and then eats the metal underneath..but I think the wear on my components is still minimal..ive been behind 2 to 3 year old cars and can see the state of their rear suspension. . A press is a good buy for any suspension work. Don't forget you wont just change bushes..change the wheel bearings too.. Oh and I use a Castrol product calked "Glide" to fit bushes...it comes in a spray can and it evaporates after a period of 5 mins. Real good to use.m
  12. As far as I know from my official Castrol supplier TAF-X is old stock as is the Edge Sport engine oil. Ive been using sytranx or whatever its called..GL4 AND 5 spec without any issues for 3 odd years. Now I cant comment on 10 years down the line but Ill be on a different geabox by then anyhow..
  13. Well out of those that fitted the alunox manifold it appears none have had any issues...except myself. Ive not mentioned it earlier in the year as I wanted time to ensure the solution was made good. I believe im lucky enough to be the only person who has fitted the manifold with the engine out of the car. .it was dead easy if that makes anyone happy... but the issue I had was that the turbo to manifold bolts and nuts came loose and vanished from the engine bay..3 of them did. And the turbo support bar sheared. to put this in perspective this happened during an intense driving session..a trip from Blightly to Monaco and back.. I think what caused the issue was the fact I travelled a NON STOP 1000miles in one day journey back. The only stops were litteraly for fuel...no rests..and using the toll roads you can imagine the pace was quick. So the car never rested and never cooled..something I expect not many owners will ever do with their esprit.. In honesty When I fitted the manifold I was sceptical about the nuts and bolts provided with it. But I was told they were fine. I discarded the manifold to head nuts and studs and used my own. I used aerotight nuts. The turbo however I used the provided items. It is these that failed under this intense travel. I replaced with aerotight nuts upon return and new allen key head bolts. These are far superior. Obviously the gasket blew apart too so I replaced this with a new composite gasket. The failing turbo support bar im sure some will think is because the turbo bolts went AWOL but I neccasarily dont believe that is 100% the case. I actually think it was just the one in a hundred faulty rose joints that im sure are made without knowing. The turbo is held very well in place by the rest of the exhaust system and inlet hose to chargecooler..especially with the clamps I use... so in terms of long term use and reliability I put 3000 miles on my manifold in June in 11 days..with 1000 miles of that being one non stop intense journey. I think this is more than anyone has done in one test.. But I must stress that I notified Alunox and they sent me out a replacement rose joint without quibble. So at no point would I question their confidence in their product or their customer support..it is a good product with the benefits described and shown in Changes rolling road.. Ps the reason I discarded the nuts and believe the provided ones are not the best is that they are those flanged type with the underside ribbed grips on them...on our application I dont think theyre the best..maybe other turbo engines or applications. .I would always categorically state aerotights are the best and my experience has supportedy view. .
  14. And indoor toilets! Yee-haa! Wait till I tel dem mussus ye got flooshin fancy loo n no need to change dem bucket...
  15. Well make sure Ian takes it away this year then as he qualifies with a blue esprit..however we are open to giving you guys a fair shot at winning a prize this year...although if the boobie prize is actually boobies on a hottie im game...didnt know you had ot in you trev...
  16. Grumpy and your wrong do you mean...
  17. Really. .i emailed 3 months ago..still waiting! Short and sharp is true...not the most personable person on the planet...
  18. Made me laugh. .I was watching Ashes to Ashes last week (box set love it) one episode has an essex esprit in it. The conversation in the program went like this one copper to another..... Copper1 who do you think drives a car like this? Copper2 poofs. Poofs and show offs. needless to say the other half laughed...
  19. That is a true crime...Last year I had to deal with my neighbour reversing into my esprit several times..front and rear..I new it was her..yellow lotus. .Black golf..you can imagine the paint transference is obvious..the final time I actually saw it happen. Watched it. Heard the crunch. Confronted her. Absolute denial. Vial woman she is. So now the car has to live at my parents for safety. Some people are horrid. Makes you worry where you leave your pride and joy and how much itll cost you when you come back to it..
  20. I would use a repair kit on the slave cylinder..or indeed any cylinders unless they are new and just have been sitting around for years. Reason being is that even with new seals it can still leak because the bore will be worn. Its false economy..it might work for a while but if your doing the job do it once and fit a new unit..
  21. There are two coolant pipes. The one at the underside of the turbo goes to the T-PIECE of coolant hoses by the rear of the cylinder head. The one on the top of turbo goes to the header tank. Both have brass fittings onto the turbo. The oil feed for turbo bolts on the top its a braided hose. The oil return goes to the sump..bigger braided hose. Does that help..
  22. Could be the brass union that goes onto the turbo leaking? Or the hose has a pinhole. .that would mean its evaporating coolant on the turbo ..just a guess. There's also a t-piece of coolant hoses in this area that can leak. If it were me I would take each coolant hose off clean the fittings and fit with new clips. Then see what happens..
  23. After youve set it basically, get it set properly on a rolling road..
