  2. Yay finally my car is photographed by someone other than me !
  3. Same, no email. I'm getting there about 8.30... Just emailed Alan...will see what the details are...
  4. Always good to see new and old faces alike! Thanks for the appreciation of the motor! Ill make an effort to clean properly nxt time ;-) I did like the blue S3 as Trev mentioned very smart...and good work with the roof stereo Henry! The hight of uber cool!
  5. Offers still there, for sunday.
  6. Well its not a dead horse at all. I agree there are better systems available and havent said otherwise. But the point is people write them off because its simply not understood how they work and how to fix them. So it is a good thing for these issues to be investigated and invested in by people who want to spend the time and effort. May not be for everyone, but that doesnt matter. You could replace pretty much everything on an Esprit with a modern far better version of it, but that doesnt mean the original component is of no use or not up to the job. It may well be that I decide the calipers on my Esprit are not suitable for me anymore and ill look to change them to a more modern design, that cannot be ruled out...but That doesnt mean theyre not up to the job..thats just personal preference..as it stands unless your on a track, or you drive at 150 everywhere were all sitting in traffic in town, all doing the same speed on the motorway and all have to use our brakes in the same fashion...the Delco system when correct is more than required for most drivers in non extreme circumstances.
  7. What sort of time r people gettin there for tonight? Anyone commin from m40 inwards?..
  8. The delco system was the same on all the Esprits that used it...s4/s4S/sport300 just the calipers, discs and hubs were different....
  9. If you need a yellow peril, im going sunday...means ill have to cleAn it though!
  10. Does anyone have a set of adjustable timing pulleys suitable for the later belt version of the 2.2....
  11. Yes the particular lotus manifold was good for strength, the copies sold by certain suppliers are not of the same material make up. Thats why theyre crap. But a tubular mild steel manifold is what im referring to( im not aware there are 10,000 Esprits using and mild steel tubular manifold on their turbos) as not lasting and worth it. My whole point is that the particular chemical molecular make up of the materials used will detetmin its reliability. Cheaper common materials equals failure.design and testing with give results...this has been covered so many times in other threads in great technical detail..
  12. Just my two peneth worth...but I wouldnt entertain a manifold made from mild steel...youd get longer out of using chocolate before it melted....stainless is preferred as it has a much higher stability at the temperatures we see in our manifolds. The quality of the stainless used and its designed/developed/tested/proven flow dynamics will determine the credibility of the manifold. Anyone can make a manifold, but it takes proper development and proven data to make a product worth buying.
  13. Think you have to unbolt the carbon fibre finish off the binacle front...so undo the 10mm bolt from underneath and the two screws, one either side front edge, to undo the binacle top panel..then the little nuts can be accessed easily from above...
  14. Sunday only for me this yr...work work work :-(
  15. Hmm...my birthday eve...if Trev brings me a cake I could make it :-D
  16. And some friendly AA guy on standby close by
  17. Yes you learn to drive in a certain manner to suit the characteristics of the car...
  18. The clutch wont engage on the pump if the system is seriously low...a safety precaution to save wrecking the compressor. Where to start? Simplest thing is to get an aircon specialist to fit compressed air source onto the filling valve a simply listen to where its leaking out. This will tell you the area to attack firstly...
  19. I did mine with engine in situ...a long, deep reach ring spanner was used on the engine side, from underneath whilst an assistant (my dad) was in the passenger compartment with the ratchet...you can use alternatives assistants if need be oh, and as a modification I welded the bolt heads to the clamp plate to turn it into a one person job in future...
  20. Glyn, sorry but you have confused me...why would yoy want to install a switch to stop the chargecooler pump working when the engine is warmed up? Also how are you going to stop a mechanical pump working! If a standard pump is used...if an electric pump is used..again why stop it working? In a carb fuelled engine, you dont set the carbs up to suit a cold engine..so why set it up so you stop the chargecooler working when the engine is at temperature? Unless youve had a typo error that makes no sense.. Oh and you cant overcool the air...you will never get colder than ambient temperature...which is the perfect temperature to aspire to!
  21. As a quick update to this, ive obviously been running this system now without any issues..except I think the current front pads are a little soft for my personal preference but I knew that anyhow.. More importantly I have recently had the pleasure of fitting these improvements upon Palmergeddon's S4 as well...and what fantastic results. We have there..again a different machine. Having spoken to Ian after he has had the chance to do some driving..he is gaining confidence to be able to drive the car further into its capabilities knowing that the brakes will be there to perform their function should the need arise... And that is a wonderful thing to hear....
  22. I think here in the UK were quite lucky in that we only have to pass an MOT test... Wr dont have restrictions as to keeping our vehicles Manufacturer approved...once type approved by the Ministry we are free to do most things, within safety guidelines...hence the upsidr of a great kit car industry and the not so great rude boy bodge and ruin industry..within certain limits we have to record certain changes on our V5...engine change, colour change, use of vehicle change...but anythin else were pretty free. This enables us..or more specific in this case Dave to push beyond production limits to test theories and limits far beyond what would be considered by the, manufacturer to be viable and suitable for the average owner.. And as a result we have a road going car kicking out power equivalent to the factory race cars but achieving what they never did...road drivability for the public..a one off product that if say ten years ago had been financed by the factory, could well have secured the future production of the Esprit as a ground breaking serious contender against todays modern eurobox performance cars.. Appologies if that was a bit off topic! Its a bit hard to appreciate Daves Esprit over pictures, text and imagination...the devil truely is in the detail...
