  6. Hi,there two things you can do .Firstly in my S1 I went to a car boot sale and bought a 1980,s radio that fitted in the centre console and then fitted an up to date MP3 /cd player with a remote control behind the drivers seat,it works fine.Secondly when I was down SJ Sportcars I saw A 1980,s looking cd player that would fit in the slot .I am not sure of the details so give him a phone .Thanks Paul G.

Hi,I spotted a yellow S4 on the sea front .I did what any Esprit owner would do ,I flagged him down and had a chat it turns out to be Splodge s4.Thanks for stopping.I went to Brizzle in the morning in my S1 and it is the only time this year that I have not picked my daughter up from the sea front .She works on the Pier and bacause E4 party on the beach was on she rode in .Now I like to do most things with my Esprit I cannot get a bike in it! Any other time you would have seen two Esprits on the sea front, bad luck!!. Thanks Paul G.
  11. Hi, Iam not in the league of you one dayers, about 20yrs ago I travalled 1500 miles in five days going from the sw up to the ne coast then up to east Scotland then to west Scotland then down the west coast of England back home in my S1 (I had to buy a lot of headache pills) Paul G.
  12. Hi,I like to meet the person who wrote the S1 hand book .Just undo the bolts and remove the binnacle. No problem ,it's just he forgot to mention remove the wind screen also.Paul 24yrs faithfull service.
  13. Hi,I have been looking for 600LOT,it was my original plate back in the 70's.I know it is on an 88 red Esprit Turbo,if any body knows of the whereabouts of this car .It would be nice to get in contact with the owner .Thanks Paul Godfrey.
  14. Hi,Ed Straker's copper coloured car was one of the cars which inspired me to buy my S1.I hate to say it but UFO is still one of my favourate 1970's seriese.Did you know that in HMV you can buy the complete 10 disc set, which I have and still watch.Ahhhh Gabrielle Drake, those legs that silver skirt.
  15. Hi,re oil pressure. After rebuilding the engine because of supposedly low oil pressure I have the same readings that I had before. So to check the pressure I fitted a direct line oil gague,as you can gather the pressure was fine at all tempreatures. Therefore in my opinion the Veglia pressure gague in my car is faulty ,it fluctuates when I rev it and does not behave as it should.(I also fitted a new sender) For peace of mind try a manual gague first.I will be at Heythrop on Sun with my S1,if you are there you can have my old gague if you like, thanks Paul Godfrey.
  16. Hi Dan I look forward to seeing you ,Paul G.
  17. Hi,will be going up to Donny this year on Sunday from the S/West with my White S1,if you can doddle up at 70/80 mph perhaps we could get a Lotus convoy going,Paul G.
  18. Hi ,I met Steve and Fiona at Bristol to help cast an experienced eye over the gold S2.Firstly I do not need an exscuse to go and have a look at another Esprit , I think I am addicted. On first seeing the car I was quite impressed with the paint work although not the Lotus gold it was excellent with only a coulpe of small scratches 9/10. The standard S2 wheels were in very good cond 8/10, the doors seemed ok they closed ok and did not drop. The windscreen and tailgate were v/good the chrome surrounds were v/good and was told that the tail gate heated demister works and there are no leaks from the glass. The interior was ok,if I was buying this car I could live with it ,I have see a lot, lot worse .The engine bay was very clean, with good carpets and even the tool kit still there , the bonnet was clean as well. All the electrics seemed to work except the second speed on the heater. I checked the water level and this was ok ( no oil in the water) I was also impressed on how clean the engine was.The engine had had a small fire at sometime ( who hasn't) new carbs with braded lines and a braded clutch fitted. The car started ok ,ran lumpy for a bit because, as I do ,as soon as it fires I push the chokes off.But when warm the engine sounded good ,I reved the car an no flat spots. On looking under the car I could see no oil leakes appart from the drip from the drainer on the gear box.Suspension looked very good, the brakes were in good cond and were free, the hand brake seemed to work satisfactory also there seemed to be no play in the drive shafts. Under the front the fans worked (supposedly ) and were free and again the front suspension seemed quite new and in good cond at some time the body had been removed an the chassis been repainted. When Steve was taken for a spin the alterator belt screemed ,It probably needs adjustment, but as the cam belt was eight years old it would have to be replaced as standard. Also the started failed to catch, this could be the starter or the ring gear ? who knows.Steve could not select first,in my experence I think that the cross shaft selector is slightly out of adjustment.Although this car may not be for Steve and Fiona I feel that some one who has had an Esprit before this could be a good buy(it's a buyers market) I hope this helps any body who would like to and see it and again hi to Steve and Fiona ,I look forward to seeing you at the lotus do's ps Etiene and his father had an old Bently they wrere restoring ,he had garage space and mechanical knowledge again this all seems good.MANY THANKS PAUL GODFREY(keep Esprits on the road)
  19. Hi,I could possibly meet you up at Bristol Poss this weekend if this helps, I know my way round an S1 pretty well .Paul Godfrey.
  20. Hi, I replaced my passenger tank late last year, lucky for me the side window was not fitted (restoration job) so I could slide a corner of the tank out to aid removal.I did it without moving the engine although I shaved a small part off the A frame.Yes it was a nightmare and my knuckles have just recoverd. We made a s/s tank to fit which had all the fixings line up but was about 25mm smaller all over.I then fitted it in 5 min.Paul Godfrey.
  21. Hi,I am thinking of replacing my starter motor on my S1 .Hasa anyone any idea what vehicle it comes from,or a lucas part no,thanks Paul.
  22. Yesterday I was talking to a good friend of mine, who also used to own a concourse white S1.He had his car for over 20 yrs and only sold it to further his rallying hobby. He kept in touch with the owner of his old car because he was a genuine guy and would help with any problems if any arose. Ufortunatley the person who he sold the car to had died. Low and behold a while ago my friend received a call from the solicitors of the owner of his old Esprit and it transpires that he has left his Esprit to my friend in his will.Although it is sad news ,it I nice to see a car to go back to an old entheusiast. If he can get the car MOT,d in Ireland it would be nice for me to take him over there in my S1 and bring it back,Paul G
  23. Hi Dave,my Lotus is a 1977 original S1,it,s first registration was 600LOT and it was the Bell & Coalvil turbo development car( it had the turbo removed but you can see by the cut outs in the body where it was fitted) . The interior is in magnolia leather which I had done approx 4 yrs ago,it was quite expensive ,so you can see I look after it a lot.the original was brown & beige,it was rotten.I use the car nearly every day thus I wanted an interior that was up to date and I would enjoy.Paul G
  24. hI all S1 owners(see Paul Godfrey,s Esprit on Guigiaro owners page) .I have had my S1 since 1984 when I was 21 ,it will hit 100,000 miles early next year. I have coverd over70,000 miles and I still have no hearing problems I am usually the only white S1 at the Lotus shows,I always look forward to a chat see you next year.Happy Lotus Christmas.Paul Godfrey.
