  1. Just read about your wonderful family Lee on the Daily Mail app. You really are a credit to each other. You really are the true definition of ‘family’. Hope you are doing as well as you can be
  2. I just had this. As GFWilliams said it sounds like the wheels need to be balanced. £10-£15 at any tyre retailer.
  3. Congrats! Beautiful car .. you wont be disappointed.
  4. Thank you for the advice and correction in fees. The car I’m driving ran last year at the Spa 24hrs so I’m repeating parrot fashion on what I have read about getting a car prepared regarding to cost. It’s a friends / other drivers car so I’m happy with there prep. I really appreciate the offer of help and may just end up dropping you a line. Thanks mate
  5. Glad you had a good day @Arun_D. Drop me a line if you do decide to do it. Might be able to meet up for a orange juice on the Friday and try to settle the nerves.
  6. Well chaps hopefully won’t roll one or put it in the ditch but never say never. @Arun_D the ARDS test isn’t particularly hard it’s more to show you have a good thought process to safety and that you can carry a good pace without being beyond you abilities. Hope you enjoy it. @Seriouslylotus will you be at Silverstone ? @W31SSN I’m told its a cost effect way of racing. Cars are generally about £3500 preped (so I’m told), we are using one of the drivers, entry is about £3000 but thats between 4 drivers and you have to think that’s 6 hours of driving each (providing the car lasts). We are budgeting about £1500 each including fuel and tyres. If it’s more then it’s more.
  7. See you there Pete. Going to do a couple of test days Chipp. Then it’s two session of 3 hours for the race. I will be fine .... honest 😅
  8. So never raced before... I have done track days and also sprints in the single seaters but not raced. Just entered the C1 24 Hr at Siverstone and cant wait. Reading @Vipers blog has made me realise you just have to get on with these things. Of course its not in the same league but should be great fun.
  9. Enjoyed reading that. Learnt a lot. Can’t pretend I understood it all but I understand the principle. Great stuff.
  10. I would guess the collar will stop rattling when the shock is compressed when the car is sitting from the weight of it.
  11. Wow, fantastic car and fantastic workmanship. Congrats
  12. Sorry to hear of your loss John and Wendy. Yes watched car SOS and must say I got a little emotional to.
  13. I just had the front end of my car done by Ben at http://ultimateauto.co.uk/ . He does a lot of high end stuff including all cars for Stratton motor company. 10 year guarantee I think from discolouring etc and its self healing. I am in Norwich and he travelled from Cambridge which is a bit over a hour away. Not sure where you are in the country but if you want PPF he’s your man.
  14. It was quite a spectacle. I’m just in awe of all these old race cars , especially the JPS ones
  15. Just been to the launch of the Black And Gold book. They had the biggest selection of JPS cars ever put together. The book is awesome and available now.
  16. Hi Paul, Good time of year to buy as they should be at there cheapest now. Prices start to rise in the spring. S1 have been climbing in price for a little while. Being the first Elise they seems to be getting a good following and great magazine reviews in classic car papers. This also helps with cheaper insurance if you can insure it as a classic (every little helps if it’s a weekend toy). Main thing with the rover engine is the head gasket however most have been done by now. I would say by what one appeals the most to you however if you don’t want to spend your complete budget a S1 makes sense. I use mine only a handful of times a year and it always brings a smile. It also helps that I know it can sit there and isn’t depreciating. I live in Norwich if you want to have another poke around in one. stuart
  17. You might want to invest in ceramic coating of that’swhat your looking to do with it
  18. How much is a pile ? A pile sounds good as long as it’s not South African Rand.
