  1. Received mine, too. Many thanks for all the effort behind the scene, Bibs. Looking forward to the show and seeing what they prepared for us. Excited and very curious, now.
  2. I am in a similar position to yours, as I am planning taking the car to the Black Forest, but I will have the car serviced beforehand. I do not want to be concerned every morning about whether the lights will be on or not... I just hope the dealer will spot the issue beforehand. For some perspective, I had a similar situation a few years ago when going to the Bavarian alps with the car, my then wife and the two kids... on the first long trip with the car... All sorts of lights popped up 100 kms. after we started the trip. I went back to the dealer but they couldn't do anything but have the codes removed... I decided to take my chances and drive to Bayern anyway, after 200 kms of detour and a few hours... (maybe that explains the divorce...) The car worked fine from there on but I agree it is anything but reassuring. Whenever my car has played similar trickery, it was never too serious, but it is true that the last thing you want is to be permanently looking at the dashboard or by the side of the road instead of enjoying nice views from your planned hotel. Obviously, please take my comments with a pinch of salt, as they just represent my vety limited experience and only you can decide what is best.
  3. I can only empathise... Mine sleeps in a garage and has been on the trickle charger for a few days now. Took it out on saturday (in the sun) for one hour. All good. Get back to the car after a four hours long walk in the sun. Forced idle and codes again. Clear codes. All good (well, it stalled on neutral just when getting home). Park it in the garage, all good. Put the contact sunday morning, just to check, and it throws traction control and CEL lides at me... Misterious, really, but the closest I have had in the past was a similar behaviour (stalling) related to the brake pedal sensor. Unfortunately, I won't be able to provide any useful input before you leave, as my car´s maintenance is due in a fortnight. I would carry an OBD reader and an app on your phone. Is it maybe jealousy and attention seeking because the Emira is being released tomorrow?
  4. Thanks. I will need to check other suppliers, then. My regular tyre shop does not have them.
  5. Just like @#84I cannot find PS4S in 225/40/18 either (though apparently they are available in the UK). Is front PS4 and rear PS4S the best option?
  6. Deutz Fahr, then? You definitely went for the exotic underdog, here. Looking forward to your review once you drive it properly in the Ardennes. 😉
  7. Well. Being gteen and German, that must be a Fendt! Am I right? Edit to add: You may want to change the tyres, too. You definitely went for the underdog, here. Green and red wheels sounds like a proper starting point for a Lotus, too.
  8. Oh, gosh. Did you buy a tractor of some sort?
  9. Oh, I see. It sounded worse than that. Hope you will get it soon!
  10. Hm. I guess the rotary engined Mercedes C111 is out of budget. 🙂 So, air cooled. A Karmann Ghia? Isn't that a VW? 😉
  11. That sounds like a general slow down, hence bad news. Did they care to share any reason for it?
  12. I wii bite... Hm. You seem to go more often than not for the underdog. You seem to have already covered Mercedes. I don´t think Audi (or VW/Porsche 914) quailifies as a Porsche rival. NSU seems to be a wild bet (eventhough a Ro 80 is a pretty interesting and forward thinking machine). A Ford Capri does probably not qualify as German, despite being built there, and I assume you would not go for a Turbo, so I would guess a BMW E9, a series 02 (2002 ti?) or a related member, maybe a Touring version? Older still, maybe?
  13. Thanks for your thoughts. Will start with charging the battery as suggested... it is also the one originally supplied with the car. At least I don’t think it has been changed in my ownership, so maybe it is on its way out. All the other suspects will be checked thereafter. Thanks again
  14. Thanks! I will start with properly charging the battery. It has been off the CTEK charger lately, so that may be an easy explanation. it is due its annual maintenance in three weeks, so I will start from there and have Komotec check the possible root cause. It does not seem too serious but I would not want to damage something by using the car.
  15. My Evora is now showing some erratic behavior... I would appreciate your help in finding out/guessing why I randomly have a forced idle and slight delayed throttle response. I have had now the car throwing twice a CEL and traction control light. When cleared, it normally runs smoothly, but today the forced idle came back once and then disappeared. I attach a picture of the codes I got this last time (this morning when I had to cancel joining a nice run out with some Lotuses and Porsches... brrr) Any clues? TIA
  16. Well, a few more come to my head, if I may... Given his experience with companies as diverse as Zenos, Caterham, Volvo and Tesla, where would he like to see the Lotus of the future in terms of size and product philosophy? And how much has Lotus already changed? Does he miss anything from the old Lotus? And a last one: is electric really the future?
  17. Funnily enough, before the codes popped up, mine was sometimes struggling a bit to get pushing from low speed or out of a crossroad in second gear with some coughing, etc.. After the codes were cleared, it pulls much better now. They seem to have a character of their own, these things. I have had the brake pedal sensor greased, the MAF sensor cleaned and now this to fix similar issues, so they all seem to be "characterful" parts of the car and a likely source of annoyances. I am sorry I cannot be of more help.
  18. Throttle actuator / throttle body? I know it is different because yours does not throw a code, but mine threw a CEL light and traction control failure light recently after a very wet short drive. It drove well on the road but threw the light when I restarted it to put it in the garage. Idle would go crazy (up to 3000 rpms then down) with very limited throttle response (ie. It would not follow my input). I let it dry, restarted a few times a week later but the CEL continued (traction control light disappeared). Connected the OBD reader: it had two stored codes that read throttle actuator performance/range / forced Idle. Cleaned the codes and now works fine.
  19. When will we see a convertible/targa Lotus again? Is there still a business case/chance to keep the Elise alive? How many cars do you see in Lotus range in ten years time? More lifestlye cars than Sports cars (ie. what do you expect to be the split between SUVs/sedans and sports cars)?
  20. Indeed, but the consensus seems to be that the Michelin’s are the better tyre. I am very happy with them on my other car, so willing to try them in the Evora.
  21. I am actually considering swapping back to 19/20s and trying the PS4S (ashamed to confess I still run Pirellis now...) keeping the second set of wheels, though
  22. It is definitely GEO related. I went through the inner edge of my first set of Pirelli Corsa tyres in no time. Had the GEO checked and never had the issue again (admittedly I am now driving on 18/19 as opposed to the first set being 19/20). The S needn´t be much more expensive on tyres.
  23. You are my hero, Last time I read from you, you had just bought a Jaguar and planned to sell an Excel to "compensate". Instead, you buy a TVR. And you can work on them, too. Congratulations!
  24. Hi, Welcome to the fold. Sounds like a good plan. Good to have a Ferrari man on board. The former owner of that car is on here, too, so you will probably be glad to see some other pictures of your car. 🙂 Looking forward to reading about your impressions and experiences with the car. Enjoy in good health.
  25. Maybe they are simply trying to attract interest and it is not a done deal yet. I don’t read it that way at least. It will depend on who, how and where it would be relived (didn’t Zenon try to move production to South Africa to reduce costs?) but, for me, it could be a good thing, both for existing owners because it might help ensuring spare parts, etc and also for those willing to buy the icon later on. Maybe me included, when circumstances allow. I don’t think it would harm values of “real” Elises, either. Probably the opposite if the icon nature of the Elise comes reinforced through longevity. if done properly, it would not only be for a few schillings. It might help reinforcing the brand, too, but I agree the critical thing is to choose wisely the guys carrying the legend forward. It might all be wishful thinking from my part.
