  1. This is where families let their kids play in Glasgow. Shocking.. 🚂
  2. I remember going to see a fairly well-known band at the De Montfort Hall in Leicester back in the 1980s. It started so late that we had to leave straight after the support act, so that we didn’t miss the last train home. Is it too late to sue?
  3. Spotted this in central Austria this week. Those two old brands reminded me of many wasted miserable Saturday mornings trudging around town shopping with my mum.
  4. Do EV drivers really keep the battery 20% - 80% charged, as recommended by the manufacturers? I can’t see it myself. On say a 200 mile range, you’ll only be operating in that 40 - 160 mile window, meaning only 120 miles between charges to keep the battery healthy.
  5. Lotus Silverstone did mine a couple of months ago when it was in for a service. £25.38 each + £19.00 total for fitting. All +VAT, so that’s £83.71 in total.
  6. Good to know that an EV bus fire on Thursday didn’t cause a different EV bus to catch fire the next day.
  7. I never had anything directly to do with them until I started working in the UK for a German company. All it took was one query about PAYE and I have had to complete a tax return every year since. That was 27 years ago.
  8. He really doesn’t need the hassle of completing a tax return at his age. It’s only a holiday job. Once you do that, you’re on the HMRC radar for life. I know… The payroll department at the retailer are worse than useless. You’d think he was their first ever part time employee.
  9. My son has just started his first part-time job for a well known retailer. They f*cked up his tax code, so he’s ended up paying tax from the off. He will never get anywhere near the tax threshold. No-one seems to be able to sort it out. I am pretty sure he will never get that tax back.
  10. Hmm, could be canny second-hand buys for future classic car owners, like the fabled Shelby Mustang GT350H. Maybe not… 🤣
  11. Some dodgy in-car camera phone YouTube footage of @TheKevlarKid ‘s GTE lording it around Newcastle.
  12. Kettering General Hospital has a pretty poor reputation and always seems to come out bottom of any satisfaction or performance surveys. Like many Victorian UK hospitals it has outgrown its original location and infrastructure, so just gets bodged up every time something goes wrong. A few years ago, it was proposed to build a whole new hospital on a more accessible out-of-town location, but that decision got kyboshed and the site will now be used for warehouses or new-build homes. Instead, it was decided to keep on throwing money at the existing antiquated and cramped facilities. They might build a fancy new facade for the Health Secretary to open, but it will probably still be the same crusty old buildings and equipment behind it.
  13. It’s the Radisson Blu Azuri hotel on the North East coast. Just bought the Lonely Planet from the local bookshop. 1 flight in 777 plus 3 flights in A380.
  14. Cool that’s good to know. We honestly have no idea what to expect. We’ll buy our usual guide book and do a bit of preparation. Funnily enough our last holiday was also booked during a football match. We were watching Morocco v Croatia on TV in the World Cup 3rd place play-off and ended up with 2 weeks in Marrakesh. Must be sure not to repeat this if watching Middlesbrough play Rotherham.
  15. Was watching the first half of Arsenal v Liverpool on the telly with the family yesterday afternoon, with a bottle of wine already inside me. “Why don’t I look on-line for our summer family holiday?” I suggest. A couple of countries were proposed and by half time I had booked 2 weeks in Mauritius. It will be mainly funded by an inheritance that my wife has got. It’s actually very easy spending other people’s money! We’ve never even crossed the Equator before. Will be flying via Dubai with Emirates.
  16. If it’s not on screen, it never happened.
  17. It’s just the shear arrogance of the man. He was kicked out of Parliament by his own Party and by the local electorate for disgusting gross misconduct, but is still trying to hold on to power (and the salary that goes with it), by using his partner as a puppet candidate. It’s grotesque and the Conservative Party must surely be appalled by what has happened. This has to go down in history as yet another case of Westminster sleaze.
  18. Cheating scumbag: the Conservatives have selected Peter Bone’s partner Helen Harrison to be their new candidate to potentially replace him! You couldn’t make it up, could you? The Tories really have no shame whatsoever. Appalling conduct. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-67905750
  19. The young lady is in for a shock. Probably fall off the bridge!
  20. Someone ought to update the SeatGuru page for Alaskan 737-Max 9. Seat 26A. Window seat. Can get rather draughty.
  21. Can’t be much value of copper in each cable, compared to the risk involved in nicking it. The current London Metal Exchange rate for virgin Copper equates to about £6.65 /kg. You might get half of that rate from the scrap man, much less if it’s insulated cable. So for all that risk, you might make a couple of quid per charging unit. Stupid.
