  1. Much obliged Jimi. I have listed my opinions and comments below, but please bear in mind I'm new to this Lotus game:- Red or dead? http://www.pistonhea...experiment=true Very high mileage, but looks nice, so I'm going to have a look on Saturday. Mellow yellow? http://www.pistonhea...experiment=true It's yellow. Yellow is the devil's colour, and all cars painted yellow should be banished to the hinterlands. Or the north, either will do. Blue lightning? http://www.pistonhea...---1995/2137097 It's a Cat 'D'. Hence, for me, it's too expensive, even if it's the best in the world. The search continues..................!
  2. Thanks, but I've already been in touch with Alex. It looks like a very nice car, but the paint job's not to my taste.
  3. Looking for one of the above cars. PM me if you have one for sale, please. Ian.
  4. When you get to my age, you'll take whatever you can get.
  5. I'm just amazed you managed to get an appointment with your GP. It's like getting an audience with the Pope round here.
  6. I couldn't find the same make front and rear, hand I like the same tyres all round. Hence the ask.
  7. Are the standard tyre sizes fir an S4S difficult to find? I tried finding the original Michelins, and drew a blank. Any advice would be appreciated.
  8. So what cable ends are required to plug into the car? USB?
  9. Don't get me started about HMRC*. If I perfomed the same way in my job, I'd have been sacked years ago. The organisation is faceless, unaccountable, incommunicative, and riddled with incompetence. And that's dealing with simple PAYE matters. So yes, you may have gathered that my dealing with them have not been good. *Insert 'wankers' icon here.
  10. Probably that you'll sit down at your PC on eBay after a few too many beers, and pay way more than you originally intended when you get into a bidding war with someone in the UK, sat at their PC on eBay after a few too many beers, who's bidding on the same car?
  11. Our bassist uses Ashdown kit, amongst others. It's nice gear.
  12. As for wherever he might be, I can't imagine that he's gone 'up top', more likely he's frightening them 'down below'.
  13. OK, I'll start with one I made earlier -
  14. I think that Lotuses being 'more than one' is a bit airy-fairy and needs proper definition. Surely it should be two? Then it starts to make sense, with Lotuseses = 4, Lotuseseses = 16, Lotuseseseses = 256, and so on. It's simply bad form to post mathematically incorrect statements on here.
  15. I haven't got a laptop, but if I get one, what does it need to run Espritmon or Freescan? I mean ports, cables, which OS, etc.
  16. I'm new here, so forgive me if I'm out of line, but I assume you have yet to replace the wing?
  17. Oooooh, matron! I like the look of those!
  18. Yes, Gary, but I can't be bothered with all the jacking up malarkey! I'm too old and decrepit for that, and if anything makes it easier to do jobs on the car, then I'm more likely to do them! The question is: Is it easier to maintain an Esprit using a pit?
  19. Any news on your Esprit? It seems to be a long job.
  20. Hmmmm. I reckon that size matters in this case. It needs to be wide enough, deep enough, and long enough to get out of. Scissor lifts are no good for my garage, I'd end up shoving the car through the roof, I can see it now. The wife comes out with a cup of tea, I get distracted, and bingo!

    Pit?

It's occurred to me that if I want to maintain an Esprit, I'd best devise a method of getting underneath one. As they appear to be lower than a snake's belly, and I don't have enough headroom for a scissor lift, I'm considering making an inspection pit. Anyone done that? If so, what are the pitfalls? (Sorry, couldn't resist but it's a serious question).
  22. Well, on first attempt at insurance using comparetheannyoingmeerkat.com, the best for a £25,000 car with 5,000 miles for me is £148, which is cheaper than my shitbox Mondeo, FFS! But it should leave some cash for all the spares I will undoubtedly need to buy. But is it worth taking out an AA or RAC membership, rather than the Green Flag they offer on the policy?
