  1. Yes, but you’ve missed my point a little. And that is that Red Bull is a *ruthless operation, and I’ll bet questions are already being asked about that differential. He got second place, but he didn’t have it gifted on a plate, all the while Max looking like he was out for a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive. *It’s also possible that Horner may yet become a victim of it.
  2. Well, that was boring. I was at the point of switching off a few times, and I reckon reading Horner’s text peccadillos would have been more interesting. Business as usual, except Sainz proving Ferrari have once again shot themselves in the foot by getting rid of the wrong bloke. Especially as he was only a couple of seconds behind Perez at the end. BUT - Max 22 seconds ahead of his team mate? Now that’s worrying with Perez in the same car, so he’s gonna have to either up his game somewhat, or get the order of the boot. It also makes me wonder what the other teams have been doing over the winter that they’re that far off the Bulls.
  3. Not to worry, Trump will soon be back in the saddle for another round in due course.
  4. Just came across this one, a concoction by our good friend, the late "Swindon Alan" -
  5. To be clear, vacuum pressure switches were always supplied "as is", with details on how to adjust them to suit the driver's requirements in the instructions. Please note that I have always provided support/advice during a conversion process, and should be the first port of call for any related problems. Over the years, I've resolved one or two issues but 99% of them have been unrelated to the conversion, rather to discs/pads/calipers, and in one case, duff tyres. The last one (and I'm not naming names), was a seriously 'soft' brake pedal sinking to the floor, which saw me free-issuing a new brake master cylinder. However, despite it being the cure in my mind, it failed to solve the problem. After a lot of head scratching, deep thinking and telephone conversations, it was finally revealed that the owner fitting the kit was unaware there are two bleed nipples on a Brembo front caliper. He had only been bleeding both fronts from the outboard sides, and as a result, air remained in the system, and there was in fact nothing wrong with the master cylinder. Needless to say, once discovered, this was an easy fix, and he now has decent brakes. With reference vacuum pressure, my own preference is 17 - 18" Hg, but I am running the full PNM upgrades on my S4s, 6-piston fronts, 4-piston rears, and of course there may be small variances in the gauge. As before, the driver should decide how much, or how little, assistance he needs. It remains to say that Sparky has fitted more brake conversions than anyone else, and he's my go-to guy for a good job.
  6. Red Bull and its investigation by an independent barrister should take action against those responsible. Any employee under investigation has a right of privacy during the process. If I found this kind of thing going on when I was a manager, my investigation would have been a damn sight faster, and the culprit(s) would have been shown the door with immediate effect, for gross misconduct.
  7. If you’ve already got a new braided hose, then just fit it in place of the old one.
  8. This subject is covered in the instruction manual, Setting Vacuum Pump, section 4.
  9. The inside looks like an American chain restaurant.
  10. Looks like he’s got a bad Earth at the rear.
  11. Khan quick off the mark, as usual…..
  12. I saw “The Jam” at Reading Festival in 1978. Despite being a dyed-in-the-wool rock fan, and hating punk/new wave with a passion, I can honestly say that their headline performance on the Friday night was absolutely electric, and I still remember it.
  13. It’s well worth taking a gander at the MOT tester’s manual (online on the DVLA website), it lists what testers should look for and, I think, what constitutes a fail. Of course, it can be subjective, but the guidelines try to remove the human element. Yes, if the tester considers the discs/pads are goosed, they would fail.
  14. As it happens, sidewall cracking/perishing is an advisory, not an MOT failure. It's been listed on an acquaintance's car for about 3 years now.
  15. Having had a bit of a think about it, it's a kind of pump, same as a supercharger, but for pumping/compressing gas, probably in onshore gas facilities.
  16. Marine engines are usually turbocharged. It could of course be a twin scroll pump for some other purpose.
  17. If it is the headlamp pod lift module, I'm pretty sure there's info somewhere whereby one was taken apart and fixed. Definitely worth a search.
  18. I wonder if Joe Public could walk into a showroom and actually buy one. Or whether, like Porsche, he would have had to have wasted God knows how much cash on continually trading up, to the point where he gets to buy one.
  19. Artificial, but without the intelligence.
  20. @C8RKH Here’s a cracker. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-68296483 How did we ever manage?
  21. Indeed. And look where they are, geographically. Pretty much on Putin’s doorstep, and next in the firing line. I’d say they have more of an incentive to pony-up! In any case, if 2% of GDP is a requirement for membership, then any country out of line should have a period of grace to sort themselves out, or face the risk of being booted out of NATO.
