  1. www.lotusforsale.com please @Mister_Tad, thanks!
  2. No It's aimed at everyone... particularly the ones like yourself that seem to think "oh that doesn't apply to me because XYZ"
  3. Maybe so - in which case I'd still get it done in July regardless. I'd assume the lockdown will be lifted at least partially after a couple months, perhaps June, and then re-introduced 4-8 weeks after that again, which would fit in nicely with being able to do something in July.
  4. This has been of some relief for a car due next month. It's also likely to be a lasting PITA for the Evora, which with a 6 month extension is due on January 6th... when it would normally be mothballed for the winter 😕
  5. Very impressive. I've noted no such general trend, but it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest different industries attract mediocrity at different rates (and a couple friends frequently and sometimes aggressively attest to a much higher degree of mediocrity in theirs than I've ever seen in mine). My "checked out" was in reference to @ramjet's situation. As in the point one has decided "enough of this sh__" and there's really no settling back in even if things were to change.
  6. That seems like a bit of a gross generalisation. There's incompetence at all levels of seniority, in every industry. There always has been and there always will be. I've been fortunate enough to only come across such incompetence as my direct manager once (in "real" jobs anyway. Many, many more times if we're talking about pre-career jobs) My only regret with my encounter was waking too long to really understand his motivations (which in this case was a series of meaningless KPIs that had no bearing on reality). If I had done so earlier I may have been able to do something about it. Sounds like in your case at this point there's no harm in having a frank conversation about what really makes your management tick, in terms of what gets them a pat on the back. It may be a pointless exercise if you're already checked out, but it may make "working the system" more bearable for a bit longer. I've always subscribed to the love it, change it or leave it mantra though. In my case I had totally mentally checked out (much as it seems you have) once I decided there was no changing it, and IME there's no turning back from that.
  7. I kind of get the appeal of it too. At the time it was on sale, if you wanted a small car, but also wanted a plush finish, your options were severely limited. Small cars = cheap and cheerful, even now. I highly doubt anyone bought one of these just to say they have an Aston. I suspect it was mainly owners of real Astons, and other such 6-figure cars, that just wanted a city runabout that wasn't made from hard plastic and crushed dreams. Shame about the over-badged pig-fugliness of it.
  8. Was that you again on the A60 this afternoon? We should stop meeting like this 😆
  9. Anyone lurking around here? First time outside of a show I've found myself parked across from another Evora. I would have done a stop-n-chat, but was preoccupied with stowing the child in the back.
  10. TBH... I kinda like them. Kinda a lot.
  11. I'm not sure there's such thing as a "most useful tool".. perhaps a screwdriver as the most used though. My favourite tool is the rattle gun (aka impact driver). Using it always makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I even pulled it out last time I put together Ikea furniture, where it made hilariously quick work of it (and surprisingly, didn't even tear it to bits, though needed to be careful)
  12. Curious... I'm a Product Manager for basically this same thing, albeit in a different setting (~$20bn Silicon Valley tech firm)
  13. I thought the colour was okay in person, certainly not for shrinking violets though (zing!) 100% approval rating amongst 5 year old girls...
  14. This. You're not required to volunteer the information, however if they ask you a question, you are required to be honest if you answer (you can of course refuse to answer, they may just forget about it, or they may refuse to insure you), including whether or not you've been on a course. Admiral do ask you at renewal, and I believe will up the premium, however if you kindly advise them to insert it in their posterior they'll take it straight back off. I'm fairly sure they use a random number generator for their premiums anyway. My last renewal came in at nearly £4000 (multi-car) from £1800 the previous year, I advised them they're insane and they need to be more like £1500 to be competitive, and they said go on £1500 then.
  15. Not sure whether it was the disc or the carrier, but both were replaced.
  16. And just like that I have new front discs and no more grabbing or judder. The left was out of true by 0.15mm against a maximum tolerance of 0.06mm. The front right to compare was at 0.015mm. Both were replaced.
  17. My wife in the passenger seat hat "gold digger" shouted at her the other day. I may have wound her up about that more than a few times since 😂
  18. Update in case anyone was wondering. Lotus wanted data off the car, I assume to check that it hadn't been an excessively abusive 3k miles, so popped to the dealer and they pulled all of that. I received a call today to say all was well and they'll swap the discs, much to my relief!
  19. Already acutely aware of that, so a bit of a WTF moment when I was informed it wasn't necessarily covered.
  20. My Evora 400 was in for it's first birthday service today and I mentioned I had been experiencing some judder under braking from speed, and a bit of grabbing at low speeds that suggested all was not well with the brakes. The front left brake disc was identified as being off centre, and should be replaced (ergo both fronts replaced)... and then I learn that this isn't necessarily covered under warranty,. They will call the Lotus warranty department up tomorrow and ask very very nicely given that it's a year old with 3000 miles from new, and never seen a track, this shouldn't be happening (and after experiencing some other Lotuses on the track recently, I realise this one has had it really easy). My last experience with at the mercy of Lotus's warranty department goodwill was when the battery went bad 3 months from new, on a conditioner the entire time... I had to shell out for that, so I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy about this. Any advice/suggestions?
  21. @hatters Any update on this? I noticed my brakes were a bit grabby at low speeds recently, and sure enough with few test-brakes from ~70mph there's quite a lot of judder there. It's been in for a scheduled service today and they noted the front left disc needed replacement due to being off centre (and therefore both fronts needed replacement) - I said great, book it in, but then they dropped the bombshell that he'd have to check whether Lotus would honour it under warranty or whether it's wear and tear. 3000 miles and a year from new, never seen a track and generally had an easy life - I'll be somewhat less than impressed if I have to shell out for new front discs already.
  22. Mine looking shinier than it ever has done (or will do). Spent the last three days at PW Pro, where Paul and Reiss have done a fantastic job - detail, ceramic all around and xpel fitted to the front, mirrors and roof. My BMW spent a couple of days there as well for a paint correction detail, and apart from a few battle scars (5 years of motorways and airport car parks will do that), it's looking fantastic.

    Anyone Here

Oof, that's painful to look at. I can see why the accident happened though - they're missing a front wheel!
  24. No way to predict or control these things unfortunately! The fact that what we did get through was of such a high quality made it all the more disappointing to be cut short. Hope the instructors (and that poor, black Elise, for that matter!) are feeling better.
  25. I think there's three more still - at least we have that option. Imagine the other guys having come from Austria, Swizerland, Sweden, Australia... gutted.
