  1. If thats true ... I'm glad he's got a seat for next year and we'll see him on the grid again! but also I'm just not sure Merc understand this era of regulations and have the expertise to build a good car that challenge for wins and podiums. I see him working his butt off for P5-P10's and I think he deserves a better car than that.
  2. I use my Evora NA on the track a few times a year, I have a standard sump with no baffles and it's been fine.
  3. FYI, I have the updated shifter mechanism from the Evora 4XX fitted in my Evora NA. I felt it was a big step up from the old version and improved the shift in my car. Just something to add to the list and compare against other options.
  4. 😛 @Nick Sticks is it yours? I’m the one with the orange S1 Evora normally parked at the back.
  5. There is a lovely looking silver Emira in my work car park! Who's is it? And why didn't you tell me you are joining the Lotus family!
  6. @Dan E, Echo what Bibs has said. Mich PS 4S is one the best all round tyre you can buy for a high performance road car. I use the standard non-manufactuer specific version of the PS 4S https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/michelin/pilot-sport-4-s/285-30-20-99-y-xl-pilot-sport-4-s?id=3528707102508
  7. @Phaeton91, I incorrectly worded my initial post. I meant to say I mostly use the car for fun rather than daily driver. Not that I mostly do track days, I try to do a few year.
  8. Thanks all for the feedback and advice it was greatly appreciated. In the end, I decided not to install the LSD. The total cost was too high (more than I had planned for) and I couldn't justify it as it didn't seem like there was going to be huge increase in performance. I use the car for a bit of fun not competitive and am more than happy with the smiles per mile it currently gives so I feel there was little extra to gain for me by adding an LSD. At some point down the road I may install a gearbox oil cooling kit sold by Hangar111. It's around the same sort of price but can be installed at any time, just needs the under tray off and will greatly help with the reliability and robustness. If I had a Evora S then I think I would have got it installed. I'm sure I would've gone for some power upgrades downtime road and could have justified the LSD more. But I want to keep the NA engine NA and I don't think I can add much more power than currently (~310bhp) without spending silly money.
  9. Car related purchase … it would probably be track days and tuition next year. non car related purchase, ski holiday or furniture for the house we’ve just moved into.
  10. Hey Paul, I already have the lighter fly wheel and clutch from the 400. Love the increased response from the engine. hmmm gonna think about this a bit more. It’s not clear cut, no one is saying yes absolutely get one it’ll make things so much better. The cost so far is a bit higher than I was hoping and the LSD will add another ~£1000 on top so not sure I want to go ahead …
  11. Howdy folks, my car is currently getting its gearbox rebuilt. While the car is in bits wondering if should go for a LSD or not? I’m using the car mostly for track days and occasional special drive and less of an everyday car. So thinking the extra traction out of corners might come in handy? Any experiences of adding an LSD? Was it noticeable? Any idea if it can be added easily at a later stage or will require taking engine and gearbox out to install? So if I’m going to do it should I do it now? thanks in advance for any guidance or feedback
  12. I think Red Bull are the new "chosen ones" for the FIA, Ferrari have been ousted! I expect a new era of dodgy decisions going in favour of Red Bull (you could argue it already started a few years back).
  13. In previous years when Hammy was the guy to beat and Max was his only contender, I felt Lewis was to easy on him but it was understandable, Lewis had a championship to think about and he couldn't risk that every time Max decided he wanted to send it up the inside and cause a potential crash. But now Max is at the top and the person to beat ... I was really hoping that the rest of the field would take their turn one by one and allow Max to collide into the side to them to teach him a lesson that is not how you overtake someone. Yes by all means please send it up the inside late on the brakes but you have to make sure you can make the corner and leave your opponent room on the outside, which I feel Max does not do enough. But it seems like Max is sooo fast these last two years that no one really tries too hard to keep him behind. Yes there has been the old time with Lando showing some amazing hard racing but mostly it's been folks not putting up too much of a fight when Max comes through.
  14. Depends what you mean by electrical system? But I would say nope, it's not a Toyota part. The ECU is a Lotus made unit not the standard Toyota part that comes with the 2GR-FE engine and as said above the harness is a custom job.
  15. My understanding of the (U)UHP tyre market ... PS4S for a daily driver. CSC7 for a road car still used fairly regularly but more fun blasts rather than commuting. GY F1 SS for occasional track day and fun road car. Cup2 for mostly track days and dry and hot road blasts. I have experience with Michelins but not the others (yet) so it's based on reviews and feedback from others. PS4S really is still the everyday tyre to get from Mich. Its takes the best of both the PS4 and SS and combines in a better package. The new Mich PS5 is not aimed at the UHP / UUHP market so while its great tyre for a family saloon, it will not provide the kinda things folks in a sports car want. There is a PS5S but I think currently it OEM only but hopefully sometime soon will be available on normal market.
  16. From what I understand there is a lacquer sprayed on top of the the plastic headlights to protect the plastic from UV damage and stop them fogging up or going yellow. The lacquer has a finite lifetime and its self also deteriorates with time and needs redoing. I would have thought the £150 service is just polishing the headlights with an abrasive compound to remove the lacquer and give a consistent and shiny surface again to the headlight. But now it may end up with a very thin layer of lacquer giving less protection to the plastic or all the lacquer is removed giving zero UV protection. The full service for £300 and covering multiple days I would hope would include the above but also a respray with new lacquer to give a fresh new protective layer. A few folks here have used PPF film over the headlights to protect it from UV which might come in cheaper than a full respray. Polish the headlights to bring them up to a clean consistent shine and then apply the PPF over the top.
  17. hmm not convinced by the look .... Lots of interesting and nice elements but as whole package I'm not sold.
  18. Really really happy with the responses that the Eletre is getting in the press! Just wish the reviews for the Emira were similar and not mixed feelings.
  19. I would recommend going for aftermarket headers and sports cat. It gives a better noise not just more noise and also frees up the engine to breathe a bit better too. I guess the usual 3 brands are 2Bular, Larini and Komotec? I have a Larini system in mine, it was recommended by my garage as it has longer headers than the 2Bular and gets better exhaust scavenging and more performance on the NA engine. For the supercharged engines it doesn't matter as much which option you go for. Otherwise my setup is the same as yours. BOE CAI and Lotus sports exhaust. I find the noise level is just the right amount not too loud but plenty of drama, doesn't drone too much on motorways and has more sophisticated sound.
  20. Yeah it's probably just a slower than anticipated start due to the many factors of the world being crap. I imagine the order book still remains pretty full and the factory are making them as fast as a they can. Just the usual doom mongering by newspapers to our attention.
  21. Yep very positive reviews so far! Looking good for Lotus, hope its a great success!
  22. Mine was done by the fantastic folks at ES Motorsport. Give them a phone call and say Jai sent you. I think mine was the first 4XX shifter to S1 swap they had done. They were not sure if it was possible either and had to look into it. I think in the end it was a relatively easy straight swap. I got a new shifting mechanism and new gear cables plus some other bit and bobs like new brackets and bolts etc to make it all fit. I think the 4XX Evora's use the same shifter as the newer ones in Exige with the exposed linkage and possibly the same one as in the Emira. Certainly mine looks very similar if not the same. It's a shame it's hidden away in the centre console. Don't know exactly what I paid as I was getting a whole bunch of other work done at the same so there might have been some savings as the car was already dismantled etc and it was a while a go now ... I might be WAY off on the price so please give ES Motorsport a call and check in with them. It transformed the feel of the shifter straight away, much more positive and sturdy feeling. Still can't rush the box but changes are significantly more accurate and makes a great mechanical noise.
  23. Yeah read some news snippets about Toyota's new battery tech but none of the articles went into any detail at all. I think they are close to a viable consumer steady state battery but not sure...
  24. I think I remember reading a thread about someone upgrading to Ohlins dampers and required different mounts? Have you tried searching in the projects section https://www.thelotusforums.com/forums/forum/456-evora-projects-upgrades/
