    V8 on eBay

Does seem cheap. Was a Cat D write off at one year old though. Must have been serious as the car must have been worth quite a bit at one year old.
  2. RIP - I also liked the fact he spoke his mind and stood for what he believed. Felt rather sorry for him, he went from a man's man, a naval officer leading men into war to second fiddle to the Queen. I don't have anything against the Queen just that Philip was a leader and then ended up in a situation where his wife wore the trousers, as it were. I also had the please of meeting him and shaking his hand once - an occasion to be remembered.
  3. What is the date/moth you are targeting for this @Greg | ValetPro and @Bibs ?
  4. Wow, that is a long love affair. Must have been so sad to part ways but at least you have a modern Louts to keep you company, obviously the younger model has won you over
  5. The mind boggles ! Maybe to attract a new demographic to cars ? I would imagine the current car enthusiasts may not give these guys the respect they need to front a car show - a little like the recent spate of Top Gear presenters
  6. and I thought they were the rare ones, obviously all you lot are hiding them 😄
  7. Amended my name: Chris Pete PAR PainterDave Michael P John Oz Spyros The Bartman and Caroline Senior Kevin and Clare Dave Eds
  8. Put me down as well Chris - Spyros I still may not have a Lotus by then but will come in the Porsche. Would be great to see some of your Loti (is that the plural 🥴) and maybe get to sit in an S3 and a X180 🥺
  9. I also wear Puma speedcats, driving my Porsche. They are very reasonably priced compared to other driving shoes. They are very narrow which makes them great for driving cars with pedals close together but not optimal for walking.
  10. Attention to detail seems to be poor on this restoration yet they are asking top money, especially when you compare to the green CEO car sold in November on The Market
  11. According to the description, the restorer deleted the roof rails as well. I am not an expert but it does look a little high, maybe it is a mild off-road version 😀 Here is another photo showing the de-seaming Anyone, know the car and its history ?
  12. Does anyone know the history behind this Turbo Esprit for sale at Castles / Hilton & Moss ? It seems it was stored for some time before undergoing some form of restoration. Interestingly, whoever did it, thought that de-seaming it would be a good things as well as putting in mis-matched seats. Any info on this from forum members ?
  13. If you struggle to find original prints, you can try and print in high quality some of the images here
  14. Thanks Mike. Sounds like a great day. I will put it in my diary. Who knows what I may turn up in 😁
  15. Is this one more acceptable, contains a Lotus 😁😁
  16. Thanks Mike. I may well do that. Before lockdown I attended a few car events. What is the proposed Castle Combe event ? Informal get together or some larger organised event ? @rudolphwolvenLovely car and great colour. I am tempted by one of the more modern Stevens or Thomson cars. They are also lovely to look at and also have modern driver aids but I am worried I will fall regret not going for my initial love, the original G cars, as I did with the Porker
  17. You have to be careful of tyres ! I was in France once with a few friends. One had a Porsche 996 GT3 RS. We were out at a restaurant at night and on the way back, one of his tyres blew out. Luckily we were not pushing the cars hard as it was late and he managed to control it without any damage. We put the small size spare on and got back to our accommodation. The reason for the blow out was due to his tyres being 12 years old ! Due to only using the car for special trips and therefore low mileage, there was lots of tread but the rubber had hardened and become brittle causing the blow out. Needless to say, he went hunting for four new tyres the next morning and taught us all a lesson. I am in North London, near the Hertfordshire and Essex borders
  18. Beautiful car @stephenwhyte
  19. Thanks for the comments @MPx and @drdoom. I appreciate the less refined nature of 1980s cars. Back then I was just a teenager but I did own cars with no power steering, no ABS and no traction control but this a distant memory having been cosseted and protected by these inventions for many years now. When I bought the Turbo I thought I needed these safety features because I would be wringing the available performance out of the Turbo. I was wrong and not wanting to make the same mistake again I am trying to stick to a G series 3 Turbo and not be tempted by the newer Esprits that may be more reliable, comfortable, roomier and safer. I have read a lot about the Esprit's road holding and although not better than my Turbo, sounds miles better than the 1980's Carreras ! A friend has one and he has spun it a couple of times on greasy roads and he has owned it 20 years ! I guess I just need to drive a couple to be sure and decide how to sell the Turbo
  20. Keep them coming chaps ! Great bit of nostalgia. Not Lotus but still British, this ad is good. I think it was on the back of Hugh Grant being arrested for soliciting a sex worker in the US back in 1995 but I could be wrong
  21. I thought members of this forum would be interested in these, enjoy:
