I've voted NOT 25, not because I can't make it that weekend but because I know various unions likely will conspire to make it impossible to get there. Hope I'm wrong, but I reckon you'd get less than evens at the bookies.

Currently OK for any date in May, but the GT3 is liable to be (at last) off the road for some major maintenance. So, plane, train, or someone else's automobile...

You're winding me up now! I was there that day and watched them all take off one after another, thoroughly depressed as I hadn't won a seat in the staff draw. A friend did though. My only consolation is that many staff were sick on board as the aircraft were performing very harsh manoeuvres to achieve formations for photos.

Route 66 is now a shadow of its former self. Roads in disrepair, derelict buildings, deserted towns. It's a fascinating photographic study, but I think you'd be disappointed in it as a bucket list item. Route 50 is waaay more fun if, as you say, you don't like people.

What saddens me is that years ago, that aircraft would have been taken out of service immediately and thoroughly investigated, both on the ground and in flight test. Instead, it was flown as a calculated risk, no doubt because the airline hasn't one bit of metal to spare due to revenue maximisation. This is what the low-cost culture has given us.

The rudders delaminated (read: disintegrated) quite frequently due to high airspeed. Sometimes they arrived in tatters. On this occasion one was robbed from AF. You can see the fwd part of the fairing survived (BA paint) but aft was from stores (unpainted). EDIT: might have been March 1992. https://www.heritageconcorde.com/concorde-flight-incident-reports
