  1. I agree re auctions. It is always a risk and the price has to be substantially discounted to make the risk worth taking imo. Dealers are variable though. Some good , some pretty poor again just in my experience.
  2. Are you keeping the 570 Chris? I have driven a couple both on track and on the road. I'd say that the Evora and 570 have a similar driving feel. If I could afford to run a 570 on track I would take it over the Evora. As well as the diving feel it just has a presence that the Evora doesn't. The running costs on track were the only thing that stopped me getting one. The GT4 though is quite a different drive and I'm wondering if the Evora will be too close to the 570? If you are looking for something different have you considered the Alpine?
  3. Thanks for that Jimmy. Nice informative write up. I have a lightly modded 410hp ish Evora with some lightening and suspension tweeks. I also have a friend who had a gt4, heavily modified gearbox, suspension and engine. We swapped cars at one of the big circuits on a european trip, I can’t quite recall but I think it was Barcelona. Just a couple of laps in and I was going to be pedalling faster than I can in the Evora. The big difference is corner entry speed. In the Evora I can brake later and bleed off speed much quicker, but on turn in the high up weight of the Evora just need a slower entry. The GT4 couldn’t compete on long straights, close but not as quick. Earlier braking is a pain, but quicker turn in and corner entry makes a big difference even on a long track with the GT4. I haven’t driven a non modded GT4 on track though. On the other hand the GT4 owner thought the Evora would make a better long distance and general road car despite the lack of cabin extras, mostly due to its ride and road ‘feel’.

Deroure show 98 for fronts and 62 ish for rears, plus vat. So similar. I was thinking of replacing mine as the bottom of the springs are showing signs of corrosion. I may just Jenolite them and repaint though. It will save the hassle of removing and replacing.
  5. If it ever turns up. Going by the Emira 4 pot delays I will probably be dead before then, and if not the 35 will be twice the presently proposed price, but yes the 35 should be the leccie Emira replacement.
  6. Thats why it has taken me so long to let any Lotus go. They really are a sweet spot for sports car drivers who like to feel the inputs and their effects. The closest I have come with a similar priced road car is the BMW, and now even those are becoming a little less driver orientated as each new model is released. I think old age and no work travel coupled with lack of track driving is pushing me towards a normal car, probably a 4 series coupe while they still have an ic in their range.
  7. Still undecided. I have both an Elise S1 and the Evora. Neither have been much used since Covid. The Evora I developed primarily as a fast road tourer to get me to European track days. I am unlikely to be doing many of those any more. The Elise is a summer run around, but we no longer run around the way we used to. I can see me keeping the Elise just in case, and letting the Evora go. If an Emira ev turns up I could be tempted to let both go and replace it with that. Unfortunately I don’t see Lotus being capable of providing that any time soon.
  8. This post on another forum sums it up for me. “A few years and 3 portions of pork later and I'm finally back in a Lotus Oh how I've missed that precision and peerless road feel.”
  9. Is that dampers and springs or just dampers?
  10. I have driven both and my general conclusion would be that the Evora is a much better car to drive on the road. On the track the GT4 is very capable out of the box and can benefit from some track focused improvements more than the Evora can. There really is nothing to compare to the Evora on the road, short of a McLaren imo.
  11. Crazy cheap. Just MOT advisories. Someone will take that, fit a new set of refurbed wheels and make money.
  12. I love the comments about China, from the owners of cars made by a Chinese company with parts sourced from China and an interior a direct copy of a Chinese car.
  13. Those forza wheels aren't to my taste but that's a good price for a set of 4. The gregs ones are about the price I've had previously to get a set made.
  14. That’s not quite true though is it. Plenty of insurance write offs due to cost of parts, or waiting for them.
  15. Very nice. 1410cc or 1430 next? 🤔
  16. When I bought my first Evora the wheels in particular were in short supply. Taking wheels off of finished cars to put them on cars in production to move them around the production line. My own car arrived at the dealer with the wrong wheels who then took them off and sent them out for refinishing to the factory option I'd ordered.
  17. Lotus have a long history of using what's available in the factory on the day of production. Just sayin'.
  18. Those seats cost a fortune. Current selling price is in the region of 6k from Lotus if they have any. Pre owned around 4k.
  19. I bought Mrs Bruss these for the Elise. I believe they will work just as well in the Evora.
  20. Lotus fitted mine so I don’t know if they are the same length, but yes my model year 11 car had the later model year 12 upgraded cables fitted.
  21. I have a tweaked S1 and have done a lot of track days on large and small tracks, many after and before long road trips there and home. No baffled sump as I think the solutions were not particularly useful.. The really important thing is to check your oil levels during the day. The Evora has a habit of showing a good oil level, showing no oil loss anywhere - no smoking or leaks, and then magically after a morning session showing a lower dipstick level. I always carry spare oil and check. Check before you go out on your first session. Check after that first session and then check again at lunchtime. Check again before driving home.
  22. 🤣 (I have that everyday, obvs)
  23. The bolt is a complex arrangement that centralises the bolt in the recess by using the moving washer. There are tolerances on the fit and torque. Any other bolt will be fitting incorrectly and may or may not be suitable.
