  1. I forgot - they had a rare black badge car
  2. Yup, absolutely serious - I know at least one person who has done this. The initial problem is** that they come here for a legitimate reason - say a sports tour or work training course. Instead of being issued with a single entry visa covering the period in question, they get issued a six month multiple entry visa - WHY !!!!!! So they come here and return to their country of origin, and then have 5+ months to come back in legitimately and claim asylum. ** This was certainly the case a few years ago, but may well have changed. When my wife to be first visited here (2002/3) we came by Eurostar. Visa checked on arrival, nothing was checked on the way out - so how the hell they knew if she had left the country I have no idea.
  3. Another thing that should piss everyone off is the asylum seeker who is granted asylum - then immediately goes and has a holiday in the country that they have been granted asylum from. Is their asylum revoked - of course not.
  4. Great info thanks The route has had to have a huge change as we need to go visit Long Island University and La Salle as well - both added on yesterday. However open days & times don't make this a simple change - i.e. I pick up a car at BWI @ 10:00, the only time La Salle has is at 12:00 - then nothing for 4 days, so instead of being an easy 1st stop, it is now having to be last, and Long Island is 1st - we will visit NYC which wasn't initially planned - so not all bad. Still managing to fit in Niagara and Washington DC, but it is more rushed now with very little slack, one long drive from NYC to Niagara, and the Miami to Lock Haven being split into a two day drive. Which is the bit of Route 555 were you recommending in an earlier post? We can definitely Include all of the above, which look like great places to visit and as you say are on the route - which looks like this now - not the simple circle I was initially envisaging. Ohio & La Salle were both PITA as regards open days.
  5. Passed by today, stopped and had a wander around outside. They have plenty of stock More inside. Am going to rock up in the Esprit next week and see if Olive and I can both have a go in them
  6. This was the reason I went to Zimbabwe a couple of weeks ago. If you want quirky, In Bulawayo I had a couple of belts made for me - one from Elephant the other Crocodile - cost for both 60 USD - when looking in Zambia in July, they were over 100 USD each - from cow. This was in a backstreet workshop, and was really interesting to watch the whole process. In the grey door right at the end on the left - this alley was a car repair shop. Family was just about to get the bus to Joburg. I did do some touristy stuff as well at Vic Falls
  7. Not seen some flying turrets for a while
  8. I'm glad to read that you are going to re trim in cloth as I think that a cloth S2 interior is the best one to be had.
  9. Right, flights booked with BA - LHR to BWI. Used up one of my Executive Club Vouchers, bought 20000 Avios points and it then cost me 55000 points plus £200. First night booked close to the airport, and a Dodge Challenger (or similar) booked for the duration of the trip. My car hire insurance is world wide. ETSA approved - thought that there might be an issue with this as my daughter was not born in the UK - but it took a couple of hours. My daughter has added a couple of universities onto the list, so we are going for slightly longer, and there won't be many extra nights - however, the maximum distance is from Bellamine back to Washington, and I've allowed a couple of days for this. I think the route is going to be Baltimore Lock Haven Niagara Falls (tourist) Kent State University of Ohio - Athens University of Miami in Ohio Ballamine University, Louisville Kentucky Washington DC (tourist) Baltimore Due to the shortish (US standards) distances to travel between each place, I'd like to avoid the interstates if possible, also the cities. I've got Route 555 down do to for 4 to 5. Any other suggestions would be more than welcome. Got to up my Travel Insurance as I removed the USA from it at last renewal 🤦‍♂️ That will be on tomorrow's list.
  10. Next trip booked USA in March/April.
  11. If you turn javascript off for the page, you can view it just fine
  12. Found this really interesting - I do like this age of Rover. It is a bit long - but I've had it on in the background today.
  13. Where do they find these commentators
  14. Fair few I've never heard of there
  15. In Bristol - yellow van owner was issued a fine for entering the clean air zone.
  16. Yes, I'd have expected that to be there for a total rebuild - SJs have them in stock. Don't know what a battery board is - mine just sits under the right hand side with a metal cross piece holding it in place. Looking at the off side interior shot - the carpet doesn't look clean, the leather does not look new - especially the headrest, and the binnacle look worn. The gear gaiter is the wrong style for a leather interior - looks like my cloth interior one (which is correct).
  17. No carpets for this age car, should have a boot bag - you can see the fasteners.

Not many of these still flying - Air Zim 737-200. I remember when they had just purchased them in the 1980s. I was meant to fly in one of them from Harare to Lusaka, and someone had accidentally deployed one of the emergency exits and no-one knew how to reset it, so I had to fly in one of their recently retired 707s - I just remember all sorts of creaks and rattles, and was very glad to arrive.
  19. Yes, planning on two nights in each university town and then a couple of days meandering between them. Did notice that there is a University of Miami in Ohio - did it get lost
  20. Will know more middle of next week. Almost certainly flying into Baltimore. Current plan is Lock Haven (definate), Niagara - tourist stuff - Kent State, Uni of Ohio, Washington - more tourist stuff - home.
  21. Unless you earn over 50k, have children and claim child benefit.
  22. Travelled in my first EV on Thursday., a BYD something being used as a taxi in Zimbabwe from Victoria Falls Airport to the 🇿🇼 🇿🇲 border - 20 kms. Driver said it was great as that was about the max distance it travelled. Car cost 60k USD Was looking forward to the reverse journey today. Driver pitched up in a twin cab diesel. Where's the EV I asked. We have no power at the office he replied, so unable to charge it. I did have a silent laugh.
  23. There may well be more to come Might be, it is a booze cruise
