Ignition amplifier module - gm part number?

Looks like the ignition amplifier may be fried on our 84 turbo. It is an AB14, which my research has identified  as also fitted to the Jaguar XJ-S. The replacement for the GM module which seems to be favoured by the jag forums is from summit racing as below. Has anyone tried this on an Esprit? Is the module delco d1906 or gm19180771?

I believe the AB14 ignition amplifiers contain a simple diode and condenser and can sometimes be repaired, worth a look inside. Not something I've done, but having owned jags with this common problem it's something I've heard done.

Apparently, the later GM modules now dispense with the diode, although the condenser may still be required for suppression purposes. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Nicola

I thought the same on mine recently.  No matter what I couldn't get a spark and narrowed to the amplifier.  I borrowed one and found mine was fine.  By unplugging the rev limiter gave me the spark back so there is a fault somewhere but not the amplifier.  Maybe worth a check.
