  1. Interesting thread thanks. Glad to see that ruby is being enjoyed and not a garage queen.
  2. Well I thought the launch was great and really inclusive for the real world buyers of the car. It looks great and I cant wait to see it in real life. Ps whoever drove the f1 car on slicks in standing water give them a medal. 🙂
  3. Paid my dues annually by paypal, the latest payment was taken yesterday. Why am I showing as a basic member? Please can you fix this.
  4. Looks like the ignition amplifier may be fried on our 84 turbo. It is an AB14, which my research has identified as also fitted to the Jaguar XJ-S. The replacement for the GM module which seems to be favoured by the jag forums is from summit racing as below. Has anyone tried this on an Esprit? Is the module delco d1906 or gm19180771?
  5. Not me organising but this may be of interest. £5 per car entry for charity. See facebook here https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2032623363502807&id=1607248326040315
  6. Normal service on the digest email is resumed. Thank you.
  7. Ppf is on our to do list. Ours is an 84 turbo though.
  8. So the email notifying me of your reply works. The email that should send a daily digest of followed content is still broken.
  9. Any update on this? I still have the issue.
  10. Doesnt guy martin have a van thats only slightly fire damaged? Im sure you could persuade him to sell.
  11. Been getting blank forum digest emails like this all week.
  12. @lotusfab Have you seen this image before? From this listing on ebay. 1982 copy of lotus world. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F303028768263
  13. Being 2 years into an 84 turbo restoration with my husband doing all of the work, this will probably cost the same again in parts alone to get into reasonable shape. Assuming the po has neglected it for some time. If your aim is like us to have a car at the end of it all which you know is in first class condition you may want to go down this route. We paid 7k for a car needing an engine rebuild. Which was too much at the time. Areas to look at - Fuel system pipes, tanks and carbs, brake lines and master, look for rust on the chassis by the exhaust manifold and on the front cross member on the near side front. Check for damage to the chassis around the engine cage at the rear. You will probably find pin holes in all the ally coolant pipes at the ends, issues with electrics, issues with all mechanical parts, maybe engine rebuild needed, carb rebuild, turbo rebiuld, water pump, manifolds are difficult to get, wastegates corrode, anything plastic trim wise is not easy to find. Dont get me wrong i love the car and its going to be worth the effort. If you can find a well maintained example you will avoid a lot of pain.
  14. I dont believe I was the underbidder 3 times on this lovely lot of posters. I thought i would share so we can all enjoy the images at least. If you are the lucky purchaser I hate you, but i hope you enjoy them. Prices if you are interested were £54/18/33
  15. Looks like I missed this first time round. Many thanks for what was a great evening.
  16. I think h111 have a demonstrator now. Why not give it a go? Theirs is a proven package with outstanding performance.
  17. Really interesting to see what others do for a day job. At the risk of boring you all, I am a financial accountant for a group of research institutes, my specialism is vat.
  18. Shocked by how much the club lotus insurance value on our S1 Elise has gone up 5.5k in just 2 years. The car is now valued at nearly double what it cost us in 2006 despite the 95k miles on the clock. So what is driving the prices up? Is demand that high? Are prices going to continue to rise at this rate? I would urge any S1 owner without a recent valuation and agreed value insurance to go out and get both.

    Dear Bibs

Sometimes i really wonder about the posters on this forum. Plus if you keep mentioning chickens Barry will chip in too and then there really will be trouble!
  20. Talking of hens with teeth, and thread crashing slightly.... sorry. I am after a pair of these speaker grills for an 84 turbo.
  21. Our 84 has factory cut 10cm holes in the front dash properly trimmed so i think original. On car stalking at the 70th it seems the speakers should look like this. Anybody know which other cars used them as I am trying to locate a set.
  22. A fabulous event and we were lucky enough to live locally. Had this not been so local i could see that the short notice, and uncertainty about tickets would have made booking travel and accommodation a headache. I am sure that the next event will be planned and announced well in advance. Considering the upheaval at the factory the organisation of such a well run event at short notice must have taken a monumental effort. Hats off to the individuals concerned. The best bits of the day were the f1 demos, lots and lots of loti and enthusiastic owners, loti hooning on track (Gavin and team), the on screen interviews, also merchandise and food were reasonable prices. I felt access could have been better arranged with 2 lanes of cars running right into the parking areas from the site entrance. Maybe more vehicles could be accommodated if this area was given thought. Things to add could be more experts talking about the history, driving, or restoration of the cars. Maybe some practical demos of work in the factory or restorations. The factory areas were interesting but felt very static. Happy to pay to get in too. Please, please can we do it all again next year.
  23. @Bibs any chance of a higher res copy of this? Ours is the ruby s1.
