Perhaps one of the weirdest badging exercises ever. £30k for a badged and spruced up £15k Toyota IQ. It's up there with the Tickford Metro for those old enough to remember.

I thought this was someone just getting a badge and sticking it onto a Toyota until I looked it up on the internet. It was actually sold here as well.

That is desperate if you just wanted to be able to say you own an Aston Martin.

It was done by Aston to reduce the CO2 emissions of its range.

I kind of get the appeal of it too.

 

At the time it was on sale, if you wanted a small car, but also wanted a plush finish, your options were severely limited. Small cars = cheap and cheerful, even now.

I highly doubt anyone bought one of these just to say they have an Aston. I suspect it was mainly owners of real Astons, and other such 6-figure cars, that just wanted a city runabout that wasn't made from hard plastic and crushed dreams.

Shame about the over-badged pig-fugliness of it.
