ECU flashing code 11

Hello,

 

Shorted A to B and after code 12 three times, it then flashed 11.....There doesn't seem to be a code 11 (or 20) or anything less than 13 in the manual.  Does this make any sense to anyone?

There's no 11 or 12, have you checked the codes list in the manual?

Bibs, Yes and you are right, there is no code 11 but it's flashing 11.....!!

I’m sure it flashes that at the start and end of the fault sequence.

you need to get a lead and freescan/espritmon.

No. It flashes 12, 12, 12 then any fault problems ie 33, 33, 33 then 12, 12, 22

If there are no faults detected it flashes 12 indefinitely

And if you inadvertently disconnect the battery prior to checking the fault codes ghey will all be erased. Fault codes are stored for up to 50 engine turn ons

This is for an Elan M100. I'm assuming the same applies to other models of that era

Are you sure you shorted out the correct pins Alan? Ie white and black wires

Yes. Strangely when I shorted the link to fans came on...?  I think I best try Freescan. Cable on the way

I’m pretty sure that’s an indication the ecu is shot.

No, I'm pretty sure the fans come on permanently under some conditions, eg a code 26 and also when you're reading the codes.

Ahh ok - there is an issue with fans running constantly and faulty ecus - I remember that from my first esprit.
