Nick Mason's open day

Popped along to this today to see what might be on display.  Much better than I expected.  NM had about 30 or so of his own collection scattered about his grounds ... and then the car park just added to the fun.  Sadly only saw 3 Lotus on site.

And of Nick's extensive collection, these are the ones I've seen most often at Goodwood etc which probably represents about £30mill worth - so in antiques roadshow order of value

Good £1m +

Better £10m+

Best £19m+

Always got to love a helicopter parked up on the front lawn (Eurocopter Ecureil), though have to say the non-pilot seats looked laughably tiny.

Also nice to see his less exotic cars like a Fiat 500, Scooby do, and Alpine 110.  And a lovely v12 E-type plus a Porker 928 GTS amongst many many more.

There’s one of those fugly Ascari Ecosses in the background of the second photo. I remember seeing one at Shelsley Walsh hill climb 3 years ago. They look like an ill proportioned kit car.

And if you get a chance to see Nick Mason on his long postponed "Saucerfull of Secrets" tour go and see him. Still brilliant, especially Echoes 👍

Didn't look that bad to me in the flesh, but agree it jars a bit from some angles

I was there on Saturday, 25 plus Lotus in the car park & it was nice to see NM wandering about in scruffy clothes and an Audi cap on

No, we were in the blue Elan with the bonnet up! Should have taken mine!  😆

There was one M100, a NMY S2, close in number and mileage to mine, I don’t know the owner though.

Yeah, no surprise since he lives there...but he was out and about on Sunday too.  Saw him signing books at one stage - Hardback red book in a hard sleeve bright red.  Assume something Ferrari?  Anyone buy one?

Not mine, boyfriends - although I could argue that means half mine! 🤣 (it’s an Elan S2, not a +2)
