Looking at Cars for sale

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know anything about the white Exige in Derby for Sale GX58 GWZ ? It’s had 6 owners? It’s a long distance from me for viewing hence why I ask. Is it’s price too high as it’s been on the market a long time?

I’m looking for a nice Exige or Evora for summer.

I think you better know what you're doing with that car. It may be fab but it feels to me like it's had a exuberant life....so do your research.

If you just want a road car for fun days, I'd look elsewhere.

Mods. If you're new to specialist cars, you better know what you're doing. It's not the place I'd start.

What am I missing , car looks pretty standard to me

Suspension, steering wheel, fire extinguisher. I suspect other things have been done so if I was buying I'd want to do full due diligence.

I'm just trying to help, the question was asked.

Ok thanks but what's your reasoning? The extra kit maybe? Mods?

Notice the radio is tuned to radio Derby - the midlands Lotus Group on here is very active, someone on there may know the car.

It's obviously been used on the track, but then, that was what it was made for, so if condition and service history is good then what's the issue?

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

As you say I don't really want a car that's spent all its life doing track days.

I didn't say that!

What I will say is a car like that, has a lot going for it!

Meticulous, documented service history for its whole life.

Previous owner for 10 years.

Obviously (in my mind) a loved and cherished car, and, if used regularly on track, the person owning it would have been bang on the button re maintenance, for their own safety and reliability if nothing else. The 15 documented services being testament to that.

Not sure what you're looking for, but this is a performance car, that has been maintained, consistently, and obviously had the money needed spent on it.

Check for signs of crash damage (as you would on any car, the CAT markers are a nonsense as a crashed car not reported won't have a marker, but is still a crashed car!), check for condition. But I would have thought a car regularly used and maintained was a good choice. The mileage is under 3k a year.

@scotty435 - as an MLOC guy, do you recognise this exige from your meetings, LITP etc?

Ok thanks I thought a previous owner might have been on here. As you say I don't really want a car that's spent all its life doing track days. Most seem to have some mods however.

Doubt it spent all its life on track, these cars are bought as a toy to be used on roads at weekends and an occasional track day . The mods on the car look upgrades to me

The MY10 rear wing is retro-fit, and possibly the long scoop roof.  Probably non-standard dampers fitted as it has been lowered.  Inertia seat belts deleted.  No air bag is technically an MOT fail, but not that likely.

Bit odd that you get a detail photo of an electric window switch, but no photo of engine bay.  That's probably just down the sellers advert technique. Euro toll stickers in the windscreen.

As stated, you need to judge based on condition with eyes-on, the vehicle.

I've never considered any mod from factory Lotus spec for a road car to be an upgrade. Esp suspension.

We know you're like a Lotus stick of rock though, Justin ;)

Each to their own as far as I am concerned, there are usually pro's and con's, and it depends what the individual wants the car to be.

Not a car I recognise from MLOC jollies.Previous Exige 240 owner IMG_0120.jpeg.6a09e5192c5f26d05c7e80e6d0cf2254.jpegand possibly my favourite Lotus to date. Fantastic cars.
