It's moving to be means tested @march.

Yet again, if you work hard. Be sensible and put something aside, you get hammered.

Yet if you were a workshy scrote, or never planned ahead, you get more stuff for free.

What a bonkers system we have

Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Rachel Reeves & her difficult decisions 😆

Difficult decisions my arse, she took the easy pickings first, taking the winter fuel allowance away from a sector of the public which she knew couldn’t fight back through industrial action etc.

She shouted long & hard from the opposition benches about the Tories not doing anything about a windfall tax on the mega windfall profits of the energy sector and how the actions of these companies was imposing hardship on pensioners etc & then she fleeces pensioners at the first opportunity.
I wait to see how she tackles that one!

Am I losing it, or does this man make sense with what he is saying here?

Some interesting facts quoted, or is it just old tosh from a racists, radical, protestor?

Did anyone else see that Italy has done its own "Rwanda" deal, but with Albania, and interestingly no one is bleating on about how that is unfair, unlawful ETC.

No you are not loosing it. One thing he doesn’t address is the criminality that is arriving here illegally and the massive issues that itself is causing.

We have two of the Rochdale grooming gang that are Pakistani nationals that we cannot deport back to their home country for some ludicrous reason. It really is about time someone in government grew some bollocks and dealt with matters.

The CPS are a joke, police are even worse imho. Every single day there’s serious injustice in the news. We police by consent in this country and many have had enough at the ineffective and often unbalanced policing we have. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cg3jnwy8ll2o

As soon as Farage says anything the press, which is meant to be unbiased, jump on him, exaggerating what he says and calling him a racist.

He's an Elected MP and was voted in to do just this! Question the Govt and demand answers.

Unlike the Kaiser Chiefs, I don't predict a riot, but I do see the stirrings of a winter of discontent growing on the horizon. I think this Labour Governments "honeymoon period" is going to be short, and depending on what Reeves proposes in her Autumn Budget we could well see many people wondering just what it was they did in giving this Government such a landslide.

No landslide, whether Tory or Labour, or anyone else, is ever good for Democracy as it allows the Government to force through their agenda with the minimal of effort, and a lot less scrutiny. Indeed, it is in these periods that the value of the House of Lords can really come into play to ensure proper (not always granted) scrutiny and challenge away from the Government Whip.

GP’s are jockeying for position, although given the fact that I can never get an appointment, I can’t really see what difference them going on strike will make to me. In fact my GP is only part-time and I’ve long since given up trying, and have now resorted to writing a letter every time I want medical advice.

That said, I have no doubt Starmer will have a solution.

Yup, and Reeves will write the cheque whilst bleating on about their being no more money yadda yadda.

I actually do not think GPs deserve any more, and should instead be told to focus on their patients and driving outcomes.

Interesting point of view from Labour's Lisa Nandy on Huw Edwards. Can anyone remind me of an MP who has been found guilty having been asked to hand back their salary? Or did not get their pension or lump sum for losing office after being found guilty? I'm racking my brains to think of one. After all, MPs are paid out of tax payerrs cash aren't they? (PS: I have no sympathy for Edwards, anyone who is "in" to child porn etc should in my view be castrated, then hung, drawn and quartered. )

In theory, but my MIL is exactly the sort of person this is supposed to be helping. Her only income is the state pension. They increased the state pension by £32 a year, which lifts her out of eligibility for the fuel allowance. Getting her to heat her home was a challenge before……..

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

That's shit @Colin P and just further proves my point of view that Labour only really care about the workshy or public sector - where a lot of their votes now come from.

This is going to be a long 5 years.

Given Reform has only 5 seats out of 650, and is in parliamentary terms a minnow, I find it interesting that Farage is coming under fire for his comments in the media.

As long as all that happens is people shout nasty racist, nasty racist, nasty racist we will not deal with the situation. We have to understand why so many (and like it or not it is a sizable number of people feel unhappy about the situation.    For the first time I can remember I have had 3 "nice" middle class house wife customers from the leafy suburbs randomly start conversation with me about immigration legal and otherwise.    The head in sand approach of governments is not working.

Frankly the disorder is only going to grow. Until they start deporting foreign criminals and deporting illegal arrivals rather than putting them up in 4star hotels and allowing them to create havoc in the areas they are placed - I simply cannot see this stopping. We have had issue after issue with some of these individuals- all of which is classed as mental health issues in an attempt to brush it under the carpet.

The government can blame the far right - but frankly many folks of centrist leanings are the ones calling for matters to be dealt with. All the while the left ignore the criminality.

Historically immigration to the UK since the 50's was running at around 30-40,000 people a year. This was manageable.

Since Tony Blair and New Labour basically opened the flood gates 15 years or so ago almost 3m people have come - that's an  average of around 180-200k a year. And we wonder why our public services, the NHS, Doctors etc cannot cope and why people cannot afford to rent (even if they can find a place to rent) and we have not enough houses for everyone, and the benefit costs have gone through the roof?

It's really NOT rocket science and whilst the Tories failed to deal with it, what makes anyone think that the Party that opened the floodgates, led by a man who used to defend illegal immigrants right to stay (iirc), is actually going to fix the problem that they actually created?

A lot of lefty's on here have gone awfully quiet since Labour got in - and not a peep about the broken election promises, the going back on tax rises, the removal of winter fuel allowance, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (in your best Yul Bryner voice please!)
