In college I worked a month one summer in a GM plant spray painting cars on the line. This was about 30 :D years ago, no masks, worst part was going home every night, taking a shower washing the paint mix off my skin and blowing gray snot out of my nose. :P :P

Also worked in the oilfield some summers and managed to keep my fingers...

I've had a job of sorts since I was 12 when I worked in the Saturday market as a tea boy, then moved onto army surplus then baked potatoes. Worse job was my paper round that I had too, up at 5.30am for 2 and a half hours work for 60p a day, 6 days a week and I'd spend

Worked on a toll bridge for a few months. Standing all day collecting 28p per car. It was a stupid amount of money and people didn't have the right change, so the queues where horrendous. Exhaust fumes weren't great either.

Then worked in a factory on an assembly line for a few months. Assembled furniture and superglued plastic bits on to panels. Managed to get superglue in my eye! Nice.

Well.... pretty stupid really, on guard duty & we were supposed to be patrolling the tank park, on the way there we popped in RHQ (regimental headquarters) to check on my mate who was the duty clerk that night, we were there 2 minutes when this di#ck head of a corporal came in & thought we were skiving & reported us, straight up on a charge the following day & banged up for 28 days.

As the regiment had just been told we were off to N. Ireland the CO wanted to make an example of us. The worst bit is you don

Worst job was bucket stacker in a bucket factory at 16.

We supplied a jam manufacturer with buckets which he then sent back and we would clean them and resell. it was the middle of the summer, I don't like wasps and I'm not a great fan of getting stung!! It was truely rubbish.

Then I had my best job............................a water ski instructor in Majorca, thank you god!!!!

Gents, the title of this reminded me of one of my favourite albums of my youth - Derek and Clive Live. The only LP I ever owned that my mum actually trashed, deliberately....

So I went hunting for it, and sure enough, theres a trancript of it on the net...

Caution: for those of you that don't know, Derek and Clive are Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in a studio with a crate of scotch and the tape left running. Its possible that it may offend those of you with a politically correct disposition...like my Mum.

Worked in a large body shop in West Bromwich that specialised in quick and nasty paintjobs, which we called knacker lacker.

It was a good paying job, but the daily conflict with the owner (who modeled himself on Genghis Khan / Adolf Hitler) and the customers (who expected HJ Muliner standards of craftsmanship in an 99 quid respray ) took its toll on me and I quit . :D

Wasn't all bad though, I met my wife there (she was the hot looking receptionist) :D

Used to work for a goverment funded agency who were supposed to help you if you are starting out in business (there regional so you can work out who it was) anyway due to us having arrogant pricks for Directors we lost our contract. You have never seen such a waste of tax payers money until you work in public Sector and all the incompetents up top with there political ambitions.

Best job was at Visteon top bunch I worked with.

I've dug an armoured cable into the ground to feed some kennels,

I'd estimate the dirt on my boots, clothes and tools was about 50%

dog poo.

I've fitted fans in a battery hen house, and felt the back of my throat

dry from all the dry bits of bird i was breathing in. Oh and it smelt a bit,

and the birds were not that wingy or feathery either.

I've done electrical work in many mental hospitals. No fault of the staff

(they are overworked and understaffed), but they are scary places to work

with the inmates walking around and your drills, screwdrivers etc going

missing.

I've refitted the public toilets in Oxford city center. This was very scary as the

druggies had hidden used needles everywhere, you moved a ceiling tile and they

fell out, we were terrified of getting pricked.

Have worked in hospital theatres, and in incinerators. I unfortunately know what

i would smell like cooked, and it is an unsettlingly pleasant aroma.

(this one does not count as i found it interesting, but...) I've pulled human bones out

of the ground and handed them to archeologists working alongside to document

and rebury when i'm done. I have been allowed to lift the lid on stone coffins to peek

inside. I have a jawbone in my bookcase as a souvenier from that job.

None of the above was in the Video they showed me at school when

i wanted to be an electrician...

I've had many terrible jobs in the past. I think the worst was when I first started operating Vacuum Trucks. I was the new guy and therefore had to do all the local sewers and "sumps". The smell of boiling poo is... well... horriffic. However... even though the smell of boiling poo was bad... there was something MUCH worse: The dreaded "restaurant grease trap"... This smell was that of dead, rotting, mouldy chicken and it's many internal organs. I remember the smell as being soo bad that i thought... I'd rather wrap my lips around the exhaust pipe when I'm sucking up a sewer then spend 2 minutes with this grease trap...

Graphic I know... but it was quite disgusting... almost un-godly.

Modifying esprit's.. now that's fun..

PS... I AM NOT A CERTIFIED MECHANIC.. I Have chosen to help those in need, in the past and must not be construed as being a certified technician.

Gee, I can't even come close to matching any of these awful jobs - I have obviously led a very sheltered life...

Worst job (or task) I have had to do is lead a recovery team after an aircraft accident. Lots of people issues come to the surface when you see that sort of thing.

Yeah same not much to report, although I did have to muck out our relatives pig pen once when I was young and those piggies were big pushy oinking beasties. It was a disgusting job pushing sloppy poop out. And also a bit scary when they squash ya against the wall. Falling over wasnt an option!!!

The other yucky job I was actually paid for was a temporary arrangement at the Freezing Works orgainsed by my father stamping sheep/lamb carcasses on their butt. This was hard slimey work but paid really well, I was only 18 and needed the cash to help save for my first car. Thankfully that much desired office job came along quickly. Swapping gum boots for high heels and lippy was great!! :D

As my Dad says its good character building and didnt do me any harm!! - Yeah right!

I worked as a project manager for a contractor in Little Rock. I finished three of his projects. He went broke and never paid me. 10 weeks no pay. I was 21 just out of college. I lost my car and my apartment. I was to receive 10 grand. I worked 80 hrs a week.

Bad Job :D

I think the award for the worst job so far goes to Mark T-C "The smell of boiling poo is... well... horriffic" I'm amazed at some of the crap jobs we've all had over the years, guess it builds character!
