This used to happen quite regularly on a road I used to go to work on many many years ago. Lots of warning signs, but they still kept doing it.

I don’t think I ever saw one of those in real life. In the late 70s/early 80s, we used to have Raleigh bike gangs, before BMX came over. We were in the Raleigh Commando gang. Our arch enemies rode Raleigh Grifters (w@nkers!). Some of the older kids still tottered about on Raleigh Choppers with the T-Bar gear shifter. Funny how those names now have other meanings: Commando, Grifter and Chopper. They probably wouldn’t use them nowadays.

The weirdest luxury toy I can remember one kid having was a black skateboard with a Rolls Royce style grille and working headlamps at the front.
