My S1 was made in 1976.

I was born in 1976.

Bought it at the age of 33.

You don't have to be old or young to appreciate purity

Hey whats wrong with this wreck? We`re getting gas back here.

Will admit to being a very young at heart 'mid life crisis' 42 year old Esprit owner! Think it is yet another great thing about these cars that the owners vary so much in age,and it gives us a common bond. It just means that we can talk to each other and help out without age, race or nationality being a barrier. So top thread Braziers!

according to the Ex I act about 18, real age 38.

Amateurs built the Ark

Professionals built the Titanic

as a side-note I can say: started V8 ownership with 27, and have often heard that was way of 'anti-cyclic' life ... . In that age you should have Elise/ or more an Exige (maybe thats only In Germany ?)

First sight of an Esprit S1 in "Spy who loved me" - Priceless

Waiting 31 years to buy the right Esprit - Priceless

Getting to the right age to finally decide to buy one - Bloody expensive!

Magic number required for this thread = 44

Heaven is where the police are British, the chefs Italian, the mechanics German, the lovers French and it is all organized by the Swiss. Hell is where the police are German, the chefs British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss and it is all organized by the Italians.

You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot

You think professional is expensive, just wait until you pay for amateur.

Age - is that in terms of chronology, physiology, or psychology?

As a quick history, I obtained:

wife at 21

first Lotus (Europa) at 23

Esprit at 49

Am now 55 and still have 'em all. I acknowledge old fartdom.

Mike

'97 V8

'73 Europa TC

'10 Elise SC

Please, we prefer 'veteran flatulent'.

Bought my first Lotus, Europa Special, when I was 28. Bought another one, TC, when I was 38. Got the Esprit when I was 44, thinking, why wait another four years? 53 now, wondering if I can ever scrape up the dough for an Exige.

We were talking about just the same subject on a photography forum, why most people who owned a certain brand of gear tended to be, um, time enhanced... Conclusion was, when you're young, you tend to go with what everyone else has, what the popular thinking is. After so many years go by, you quit caring about what anyone else thinks, forget the glitzy marketing, and the only person you need to impress is yourself.

I'm impressed.

Brought my S1 in 79 when I was 24 and sold it in 1982 to help finance a move to a new house.

Spend the next 8 years wishing I'd kept it, got my S3 in 1990 which I still own.

At 54 I'm deffo one of the old farts.

Normally Aspirated - and lovin' it!

Wow! Long thread.

Got my SE as a present to myself turning 50 two years ago. So I am very young indeed.

It was also a replacement for my GTV6 2,5 which I bought almost new at the age of 29 (!) before that Lancia Beta Coupe (I was 27) and Spitfire (was 26).

This way to ship models! http://www.modelship...user-index.html

52 here and bought my first Esprit 6 years ago...

Jim,

Do you remember when KFM called you from St. Louis while we were at breakfast with Dan and Julie?

KFM said to you "You'll never believe this but I'm sitting here with Travis "VulcanGrey" and he looks like he's 18!"
